Basement Setup Question
If any of you guys train in the basement, I'm wondering if you could share some ideas on how to contain the BB mess. I have no issues with paper targets: I tape them onto cardboard boxes stuffed with newspapers. But I also have some steel targets, and these produce a lot of BB fragments when hit.

bb trap - Google Search
Buy or build some bb traps. Or a broom.

If u set the targets slightly inside the trap on an angle (use some clips and rope/paracord the bbs will diflect off the targets into the trap. Most of em anyhow.
Even if u just suspend the target from the top you will prolly get the same effe t. Like this one http://www.pointshooting.com/1airsoft.htm

You could consider having all the metal plates bent vertically so that they are presented more as a wedge. That would have the BB's deflect to the side on impact (vs. back at you where they'll go everywhere).
Not great though if there's other angled plates that will redirect ricochettes back at you...that happens at TTAC all the time. The boards are setup at an angle behind a target but the shots will reflect off of another surface and come back. You could also hang the metal plates vs. having them hinged. 99% of the shots would be deflected offline in some direction...still lots of force left for rebounds though. Much slower return to ready as well...they'll just spin forever. |
