Fps Help

Hi,
I did not know where to put this so I decided to put it here:P.
I'm looking to buy my first airsoft and its going to be a sniper and I would like to know a little more on the Fps like I want to buy a L96 and I found one that has 490 Fos. Could that hurt my friends a bit, does it count as a firearm, I know I wont be able to use it in side but could I use it in the forest or in a field and not get bugged by the cops for a miner with a firearm. Is 490 Fps good.

1) don't get a bolt action rifle as your first gun, it's got the same range or less of most electric guns, and you don't have full auto. There's a long list of reason why you should get an AEG as your first gun, but just take our advice and get an AEG first
2) Check your local field rules for FPS limits. Note all FPS limits are measured with a .20g BB. Using heavier ammo to lower your FPS doesn't change how hard you're shooting.
3) If you're not planning on playing with other people, you can get any airsoft gun you like, but all the retailers I know of won't sell to minors. And it's ALWAYS a good idea to notify local law enforcement of where you'll be shooting airsoft, since it looks exactly like real steel from a distance.

Automatic Electric Gun, runs on batteries, while being the most standard of all airsofters, best as beginners first rifle and for long term players as well

A sniper is a person you cant buy people in Canada.. JK LOL
You mean a sniper rifle, id advise against it as your first gun youll need to put alot of parts into it for it to shoot well and you wont be aloud to play with it above 450fps till you get certified.
DONT PLAY IN A PUBLIC PLACE, dont play in a park of field or backyard (unless of course you live on a big farm or something then youll be okay just be sure to let the local police know that you and your friends will be playing airsoft incase a hiker or hunter or ATVer sees you and thinks you have real guns)
also if your not 18 id just advise waiting as you shouldnt be playing airsoft without your parent or gaurdian playing with you.
Again i cant stress enough dont play in the local forest or park or any other public place you can and most likely will wind up meeting the local police/ETF and they will have their real guns out and if they feel threatened by you because you cant quite hear them yelling at you and you turn and point your "toy" at them they will shoot you.

m4 416 ak47/74/akm scar l all of those are popular easy to use and have alot of upgrades and acesories available.
Echo1 JG even cyma are cheaper entry lvl decent manufaturers
VFC ClassicArmy KA are more expensive higher quality stuff
depending on your budget
Id suggest finding a game in your area and then asking in the game thread if someone can rent/loan you a gun then while you are there yiu can check out different guns and see what you like and what feels good in your hands and make a beter choice, nothin like buyin an M4 only to find out you like an AK way beter
again if your not 18 id just wait till you are and in the mean time you can search google and these boards and find answers to all your questions

Maybe when it gets warmer tho it seems most of the games out east are in Newfoundland (st johns) either that or montreal/quebec I know both are prety far from you lol.

Also look through here and see if there are any groups in your area
http://airsoftcanada.com/forumdisplay.php?f=42

Im sure there must be some folks who play out there, also try google there may be a forum out that way i dont know about
