Bobster Prowler Review
Hey guys. First review here, so be gentle! C&C welcome.
I've started to get into airsoft, thanks to my friend. Coming from a paintball background, I've learned to hate full face masks and just paintball goggles in general; I find they're too big and bulky, and cuts off my peripheral vision. I looked into paintball field eyewear requirements for fields around Vancouver, and it turns out I need to have full seal eye wear and must meet ANSI Z87.1-2003+ ratings. So then I ran across the Bobster Prolwer glasses. Quick run down of the glasses. They're $44.49 from Bobster directly, and $10 to ship to my door. here are the specifications taken directly from the Bobster website: Frame Color : Black Frame Finish : Matte Frame RX Ready : Yes Lens Upgrades : N/A Warranty : Lifetime against Manufacturing Defects Lenses Interchangeable : Yes Frame Convertible : Yes Frame Material : Nylon Lens Coatings : 100% UVA and UVB protection, Anti-Fog Lens Material : 2.2mm Polycarbonate Frame Foam Type : 2 layer Neoprene and Open Cell Rx Limitation : +/-6 sph +/-2 cyl Lens Color : Smoked & Clear Frame Temples : Skull- extendable Standards Met : MIL-PRF-31013, ANSI Z87.1-2003+, CE EN-1836:2005, EN 166 High Impact at Extreme Temperatures Frame Measurements : Temple to Temple 144 mm, Height 59 mm Take note of the safety standards met. ANSI Z87.1-2003+!!! This prompted me to purchase a pair, just to see if I like it. I received it in the mail a couple of days later, thanks to the prompt shipping from Bobster's end. This is what I found inside the cardboard box: Nice case two lenses, one clear one smoked. Both of these have a very comfortable, soft plush foam attached to the bottom of the lens to create the full seal. The smoked lens is quite nice. Not too dark. next I found the frame for the glasses. Same plush foam as the stuff that's on the lenses. The ears are quick disconnect and are adjustable in length/position. They're slightly flexible so it will hug your head but won't be too tight. Next are the side guards, these clip onto the frame and lenses. This adds an extra layer of protection so that nothing can slip between any gaps in the sides Lastly, the glasses came with two retention systems. One you use by replacing the ears, and it's just an adjustable elastic. The other slips onto the ends of the ears, and theres a slide that you can use to tighten it to your liking. I personally like this more, as I find the elastic may loosen as you move around. it also came with a cleaning cloth. Here's what it looks like assembled. First impressions? Really comfy. A lot comfier than I thought they'd be. Light weight too. FOV is great, as it barely blocks any of your peripheral vision. The strap on the ears was the most comfortable for me. The clear lens is very nice. I can see myself using that indoors, and the smoke lens works great in the sun. For $45, this was a great buy. Affordable, full seal, comfortable, anti fog lenses, AND it comes with two! I would definately recommend this for anyone looking for an affordable alternative to paintball goggles. Make sure you check with your local fields that this type of eye wear is appropriate. |
