AK74 tactical flashlight mount.. homebrew style.

In prep for an upcoming OP that takes place largely at night, I wanted to get a tac-light mount for my LCT AK74 - but one that wasn't cheap and cheesy in fabrication on the commercial level, and i didn't want to change out the classic wood foregrip for a tactical grip either.. I've been working on this for a while now - actually two, for another person also attending the OP with a VFC AK74. I'm hoping his dimensions are the same..

About 50 hrs (!) all told on the two pieces.. yeah, i have a lot of spare time to tinker in the garage/in front of the computer using files, a drill press, and hack saws.. that's pretty much it in terms of tools used.

take one RAP4 useless piece of crap, and cut it apart, file the hell out of them and mount each on a base-plate...

.. and the (almost finished) photos taken a few minutes ago.. I just need to lay a few coats of flat black on them.. thought i'd take the photos pre-painting for better contrast.

Not at 50 hrs for a pair, unfortunately.. however, if the demand was there.. perhaps things could be streamlined... but certainly a better mount than the so-called universal barrel mounts that i've seen, which pretty much universally don't fit anything well.. of course, if this was real steel.. it would have to be of steel fabrication, not aluminium...

Yes, saw that.. that's the one of the one's i was thinking of. Don't believe you can retain the cleaning rod, and aesthetically it's "off" to me. Also, i wanted to utilize a 20mm rail mount tac-light with remote - which i already have..

I like my "Libyan Machinist's Special", better
