paint removal
Hey, I traded for a rifle and was unaware that it was custom painted. original color of the SCAR-L is TAN and the previous owner used spray paint and mane a custom winter camo.
What is the best way to return it back to its original color. Top portion is metal, and lower is polymer. Thanks for your time! Jordan |

All plastic parts, SuperClean. It's a purple jug sold for 20$ at Walmart.
You need NITRILE gloves. Not Latex. Not rubber. This thing feels like goo because it melts your skin. DO NOT PUT ANYTHING METALIC IN THERE. It will melt it too. For metal parts, paint remover works great. Again, gloves. And it melts plastics. Two tools for two jobs. |

thanks for the reply, Now as for applying these chemicals. Do I soak them in a bucket? or use a cloth. and if i use a cloth do i let it sit before wiping? Im trying not to destroy the metal underneath and bring it back to normal.
Thanks in advance! Jordan |

As for plastic parts, I use this
http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/tr...l#.UreJkeLOySo For metal, you can use the same stuff, but Acetone and some elbow grease won't bring it down to bare metal. |

Unfortunately, I can't help you with the metal side, as I never strip the paint off my guns.
If need be, I repaint it and it gets chipped and flakes. That's battle wear. But for SuperClean, a bucket or pan works great. If your part is not completely submerged, it will cut the paint clean at the surface, and there it nothing preventing you from flipping and doing it again with the other tip. |
