Trying to get a part off of my CM16...
Hi,
So basically I am trying to take the highlighted metal part off of the plastic upper. I've unscrewed every screw that is touching the part but it still won't come off. Can't even get it to move a bit...I've tried pulling it, twisting it...it's like something is holding it in place; it just won't move at all. I just can't figure it out. So I hope you guys may have an idea? |

it's from G&G.
Well I'm not sure if it's suppose to but how else would they attach the metal part to the plastic upper..? Could be glue, I don't know~ So any ideas to get it off? Last edited by fbiwestin; April 11th, 2014 at 00:38.. Reason: Just saw reply while replying |

I've never seen anything like it, could also be press fitted maybe?
because it looks like its a plastic mold of a DD style mount...fake allen screws which look like they'd prevent it from turning anyways.. I think they seriously press fitted and glued it on, not thinking that a customer would swap out parts... since I don't have access to one of those guns I can't fiddle fuck with it and figure it out but this guy seems to have an idea https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHIW9VNLHwo I know its the raider but the idea seeems the same Last edited by R.I.T.Z; April 11th, 2014 at 01:09.. |

New update!
So I managed to find the manual of the gun and it seems it can be taken off. but damn is it tight... Someone also had this problem before but it seems he gave up... http://tinyurl.com/kydueht Someone in that thread mentioned a real steel tool to pry it out...Anyone know what it is? |

maybe a AR-15 wrench could do the trick.
Try applying heat gun to it for a bit or a hair dryer, and then try to move it again. Probably has some hard core glue on it. |

1) it looks like a plastic knock off of the Daniel Defense ring;
2) looking at the diagram, and looking back at your pic, it looks like you remove part of the barrel but not the base of it (seated in the receiver). On a proper DD style rail, the collar goes on, then the barrel, then the barrel nut is tightened on the receiver, holding everything in place; looking at that diagram it looks like that threaded silver piece is what's holding the collar on on yours. I don't really see how its being held in since there's no barrel nut in the diagram.
