What difference does the barrel length do?
Greetings!
The noticed that the GBBR airsoft that I ordered has some different barrel length options. The standard is 20 inches but there are 14 and 16 inch versions of the barrel Is it worth looking into different barrel lengths and what impact would this have on the performance of my airsoft? That's a link to stuff about AEG's. Different barrel length will have an effect on FPS on a GBBR.

Longer barrel length = higher fps on a gbbr. The gas has more time to expand behind the bb. As far as making any difference in accuracy, not really. Longer barrel may give slightly longer distance because of the higher fps, but it won't be a dramatic difference. Quality of barrel is more important than length.

From much field experience on amazingly well built guns, I can tell you that the difference between 420fps and 320fps is about 40ft.
My MP5 only does 380 out of a 420fps limit and I've been accused of having a hot gun because "it shoots too far". |
