AUG performance really low

Heya All

So I finally got the propper shimming on my AUG that is now able to run without stripping some teeth every 2 rounds.
Then I bring it to the game yesterday, and Oh desolation,
I get a consistant 270 fps out of this config :banghead:

here's what's inside:

-EG1000 motor
-sp90 spring
-spring guide with bearing
-metal bushings
-prometheus cylinder head
-metal piston
-thight bore internal barrel
-9.6V 1700 mAh Nicad (it's got 20 amps of peak discharge rate, or so the paper sez)

stock cylinder
stock piston head
stock gears

here's what I know:
the barrel is brand new
the gearing + electrics are ok
the spring+guide are brand new
the shimming is surgical

-the hop-up is tired, and doesn't have any apparent effect.
-I think the rubber is not torn but i will have to check.
-the cylinder ensemble may not be so air-proof, but it looks like it is.
does more grease add to efficiency?
-the feeding from the mag is not so trustable due to initial crappiness of the plastic receiver.
can air leak from there ?

this sucks because it's supposed to be an awesome rifle and now it's only a big piece of plastic

Anyway thanks for your help !

Long days and pleasant nights.

If your barrel is longer then stock you may need a bore up kit. I put a 655mm barrel in my aug and the FPS drop off like panties on prom night, put the stock barrel and FPS went right back up. It is a real easy test to try

Did you do a compression seal check?

Yes, sometimes adding a *bit* more grease will add to efficiency.

You should be able to get a bit of a boost by ventilating your piston head, or getting a ventilated piston head with bearings.

I didn't do seal check

I forgot to mention it's 270 fps with .25g BBs

thanks !!

oh man, that was my next question. "did you test with .25s?"

Because your numbers are on par if testing with .25s

I don't see what the problem is, in that case.

But you can still get a boost with a ventilated piston head.

Seal check is done with the gearbox open, spring guide and spring out, piston retracted.

Cover the nozzle with your right hand, and using your left hand, force the piston in as hard as you can.

If the seal is good, you should be stopped from allowing you to compress the piston further. A fully efficient system should have you at a full stop. Most stock piston heads will seal, but will still slowly let air leak past, allowing you to slowly compress the piston.

chamber

I was missing that locking piece which hold the dial against the level.

If you are realy getting 335-338 FPS from a SP90 spring You are actually over the FPS that spring is given normaly.

So nothing is wrong with your setup, a bit the contrary the setup is doing great.

I have achieve from 315 to 325 W 0.20 with this spring on various AEG config.
