Re-ordering battery packs?
Is it possible to buy say a 7 cell 8.4v intellect battery and reorganize it a bit so the 3x3 is split?
If this is possible, what would you wrap the 3 batteries a side in to keep them from over-heating/causing any problems? Most of the batteries are wrapped in thick plastic, what kind of plastic will work to replicate that? |

I am not an expert on batteries but here is a site that I believe should get you kick started in purchasing your individual cells for your project
http://www.cheapbatterypacks.com/ They are called Loose Cells - so you can buy them individually and they also have tools in the menu for your convenience |

Cheers on that but I am not really sure on what to select for individual cell size and wiring? Was looking at that a couple times but was mostly lost.
In any event I do have a 8.4 volt battery from another gun that i need to at least space out the main cells in a bit to fit in the foregrip of my new gun so I was curious if i could do some modifications to the current battery I have or if it was necessary to buy a completely new one. |

it would be cheaper and better if you just buy them as a whole instead of assembling them yourself. if fitment is the issue you may want to cut or shave off excess plastic from the forgrip to make the battery fit. You usually dont have to do this as long as you are using the right battery for the specific gun.

Well what kind of battery do you have now? If it's a mini it's most likely 2/3A, and if it's a large it's most likely sub-c (SC). You'd probably want 16AWG wire.
Also, I highly HIGHLY recommend CheapBatteryPacks. They have excellent cells and make awesome high quality packs. Last edited by Styrak; January 6th, 2009 at 03:20.. |

Intellect 8.4v 1400mAh NiMH Mini Battery. Basically all i need to do is give it about 0.5 cms of space in between the rows of battery. If I could unwrap it, split them, then rejoin and re-wrap it would work perfectly. I'm new to the whole battery thing so building a pack is a little confusing for me. The individual cells in the intellect battery above fit fine within the front grip.

What gun do you have? An M4?
Also, you can tell CBP what arrangement you want the cells in. I've done it for a custom pack before. Last edited by Styrak; January 6th, 2009 at 03:44.. |

No, I have a classic army SAR Offizer M41. The front grip is where the battery goes on this model and its the mp5 based kind of grip. I can mostly fit my intellect in i'm just about 3mm away from getting the push-pin back in. So if I split the battery to give it a little more play the thing will close up perfectly. I just need to know if I can split a pack safely and what kind of plastic to use to reseal so I don't have overheat/melting problems.

You can, but you need to know what you're doing. You'll have to unsolder the contact discs from the battery cells, reconfigure the contacts, etc. Cells can be permanently damaged or outright fucked by the heat of the soldering iron.
If the config is no problem for you, just go to Princess Auto and pick up some shrink wrap for the battery pack. |

One more question, I'm looking at cheapbatterypacks.com and trying to build a pack. What kind of wiring do AEG's have? The options are from 12 AWG to 22 AWG. |

http://www.cheapbatterypacks.com/tst...sp?sid=1432391 send in a picture of what you want the pack to look like and they will do it for you. Just shoose the unknown config on the pack style page. Quote:
