Freaking hell.. Finally got it. This is the process I went through..

I put the body pin and the rear pin in. Then I put the pistol grip on. I kept changing the locations of the screws until i could tighten the grip fully without any selector grind. When it was good i put the bolt catch back on. I then slid on the upper receiver and tested the selector to make sure it was still good. Next I screwed the stock in, and the mag release was last.

It's working now, but I fear I will run into this problem again even if I repeat what I did! Good luck all, and thanks to all the contributors.
