for guns i bought a 90 dollar case that can carry 3 main rifles, and a pistol or 2. for my gear i just use a backpack but will be getting a duffle bag

Thanks guys, I'll check out some of the condor bags. Got an old backpack around the house I can use for rest of my noob gear for now.

I use Pelican or Plano for my guns, ESKI, Condor soft gun case for any extra guns I need to bring to the field as for other gears and 40mm I used plano ammo case and a standard 3 day pack or gear bag from TAG, Blackhawk

I use a gun case from crappy tire to carry both my M4 and M3 shotgun. Then just a cheap duffle bag to carry ammo/extra gear/field tools.

For everything else but the weapons, surplus Canadian Army duffle bag, FTW. I've had mine for the better part of 25 years, and it just doesn't wear out.



The weapons get their own gun cases.

Can we carry rifle bags/case in public? I've seen alot of people do. I have no idea if it's legal or not.

There is no law against carrying any sort of bag you like.

if you are on transit or on foot with a rifle bag with a gun in it.. it is prudent to have a lock on it

I've carried my recurve bow in a gun case and my martial arts practice swords in gun cases on the street and into the local college where I practice martial arts, it's not an issue. The plano gun cases do get a few more looks than say a more discreet rectangular hard case as those can carry anything from keyboards to guitars, but people tend not to ask beyond 'is that a gun case?' or 'are there guns in there?'

to which you answer, "yes/no" and "none of your business." :P

i remember when i was in crappy tire buying my gun case there was a man beside me and he asked "going hunting this weekend?" i said no and grabed a case and walked off haha

hard shell gun case and a big ole rubbermaid tote is what most of the guys on my team use..if your a gear whore.....buy 2 rubbermaid totes

wait, wut? When I called the RCMP the gentleman on the phone said there were 2 stipulations for transportation.

1) It had to be in a case
2) It had to be in the trunk, not visible to the public.

Brian you're saying I can take the metro with my gun? So long as it's in a case, and locked?

As for funny looks...the best was me walking into a Canadian Tire looking for airsoft gear and asking the guy - without thinking - if he knew where the duct tape was and if they carry any rubber knives.

Before he could answer, because I could see the wheels turning, I said, "Pretty strange request, huh?." He nodded with the most freaked out look. Happened a few weeks ago and it still makes me laugh.

I believe the gentleman from the RCMP had no idea about the laws of airsoft and just applied the laws of a non-restricted firearm. What you just said pertains to firearms and not airsoft. A firearm must be either in a locked case (not necessarily in your trunk) or in the very back of your vehicle (out of reach) covered by a blanket and when you leave your vehicle unattended you must lock your vehicle. Airsoft falls under a completely different set of laws (because it isn't a firearm). Legally, i don't think you HAVE to put it in a case, its just highly recommended so swat does come pay you a friendly visit. (unsure so don't quote me) also since it isn't a firearm it isn't illegal to have in public. Although you will be harassed every 5 seconds when a cop sees your GUN case and suspects you are carrying firearms. I wouldn't recommend it but it should be completely legal according to the law.

Seriously Go to value village or some other 2nd hand store, buy a old electric knife and a old guitar case, next go to upholstery store buy some foam ... a couple hours of effort and you have a case you can carry anywhere without a second glance.

The RCMP personnel was likely referring to RS un-restricted firearms, for which the transport rules are as follows:

- in a gun case, and
- out of sight (hence the "trunk" comment)

For un-restricteds, you require - at minimum - 1 lock between the public and the gun. The lock can be on the gun case or the trigger. A trunk lock is not sufficient.

Generally, airsoft is a bit more lax, especially when it comes to trigger/case locks. However, the general advice is still to transport in a discrete case or bag that does not attract attention.

Remember, you're transporting a realistic looking toy gun (for lack of a better description). Discretion and common sense should be first and foremost when transporting through public spaces (i.e., don't be a "gangsta").
