I still doubt if I could actually up the velocity enough on these tanks to be considered dangerous at all, though. Gearbox and piston look pretty frail.
But, damaging the tanks physically was just one of the things we had been thinking about. Wouldn't that be really cool. Sure, there would be dangers to it, but with proper precautions can be mitigated, just like in a game of airsoft. We got a small stockpile of spare part for these tanks, so we're not terribly afraid to damange them. We're also going to control them remotely via 2.4ghz camera to mitigate the danger to people. EDIT: How much force(pounds, newtons?) is the typical AEG spring under when you put it in? Should I get better protection than a simple pair of goggles when installing my spring? with a cylinder volume that small coupled with such a short barrel.. good luck!
the only way i can see this happening is with compressed gas.

12g CO2 cartridge
Solenoids/Capacitors? Arduino Lot's of patience, soldering skill, and knowing what you're doing Think this is your best best in considerably upping the power to reasonable level in a "small" package. |

Found a good place to use up your spare paintballs. The tank's shell is hard enough to always break them on impact, the gun barrel is tolerant to fire them, and gearbox is simple enough that I wouldn't mind some paint in there once in a while.
How should I get started on modding it with CO2? Having owned a 4.5mm air gun, I am concerned that CO2 guns' cylinder, trigger, and air nozzle are integrated into the guns's structure, in which case I won't be able to rearrange them to fit the tank. I'm curious.. if you're going for a battle system, why not use an IR system?

I did a quick search online for hard and dense materials that come in 6mm balls, and found tungsten carbide ball bearings. Over 1.5 gram a piece. Now I have to find a tougher spring and see if I can reinforce the shooting mechanism. Plastic BBs will deform on contact which dissipates some of their energy, to avoid this and ensure that more energy is being transferred to the target....Click here for more.
