Krylon Camo

Is there any kind of topcoat/clearcoat that can be put over the krylon to protect it from coming off that someone has had sucess with?

I've had the grip of the 36C fully submerged in a sink, the paint didn't come off. I suppose as long as it's properly dried, it wouldn't rib off too easily.

I havent had any issues with mine rubbing off yet. Im almost finished the work on my glock. Before it used to look something along the lines of this.

Recently, after picking up that krylon camo, I sanded my glock down and primed it with krylon primer, after letting it dry, I remove the mag and taped up the lower body in prep for painting the slide. Using nice even gliding sweeps I sprayed on the first coat, after drying I did a light second coat effectively covering any problem spots.

I taped up the majority of the mag except the part that pertrudes from the bottom of the gun and painted that part OD as well.

After the mag and slide were done, I taped up the slide and gave the lower half of the gun a good once over with krylon matt camo black and let it dry, after that I touched it up again with a second coat.

After all was dried, it looked pretty decent and nothing has rubbed off as of yet, sanded, primed, 2 coats.



I think it looks good, Im not entirely finished yet, Im gona pin out the trades and redo them in black and I still have to paint the triger and mag release OD as well, and well of course as per most images posted by me, shameless SG plug.

Krylon is this cat's pajamas if you're looking for an inexpensive painting system. I've used the woodland camo sceme with the tan, green, and brown to paint up my mask so I would't keep getting shot in the goggles. (a black circle ontop of a green and brown body... what would you shoot for?) I did 4 or 5 light coats, then dusted everything with green to dull down the colours.

It has seen about 15 games this summer with little wear. There are some scratches in the paint on the edges, and there is a little black starting to show through where I painted it tan by the cheekrest, but otherwise the paintjob is as true as the day I sprayed it. For under $20 how can you go wrong????

Doing up a black and pink MP7. Hasnt really gotten off the ground yet, its been primed and painted black but Im still nit picking whats going to be pink. Will post picks if I ever complete the damn thing.

why clear coat it? painted guns + wear = the shit, shows the gun as been in some fire fights and no the first time its been taking off the rack every single game.

T7 do you work for SG or do just like the naked emoish girls in it, thats something i've wondered lately.

If you want a more durable finish, try Krylon's special purpose Epoxy Enamel finish flat black. It ends up looking like a powdercoat finish, and if you give it the time to dry properly it produces a very hard, scratch-resistant finish.

That's actually a bona fide internet rumor/hoax that's been floating around internet forums for years, and was busted by Krylon (it's actually one of their better selling products).

One thing I did notice however was that a lot of Krylon products are coming out with new packaging, and new SKUs to go with them -- so technically, if that's what happened with the camo line, the old SKU IS in fact discontinued and replaced by the new one.

I use Krylon Camo on everything. Both my Jeeps are slowly becoming OD with it, and half the stuff in my yard and garage is either OD or black now. It's great for painting tools.
If you want it to last, Testor's makes an awesome clear top coat in gloss and dull. Works great over top of the Krylon.
One thing to note, Krylon Camo is porous, so if you decide to paint a car or some other metal object that is likely to rust you'll need to use a sealing primer first. Krylon grey primer is NOT a sealing primer, I learned that the hard way on one of my Jeeps. On the good side, I enjoy sandblasting...

Careful you don't cake it on, my friend did that with one of my guns and it somehow destroyed the plastic under it. Be sure of the plastic quality before spraying it.

Nope, that's possibly why.
He offered to do it to cover an abnormality on the top of the slide, but used way too much, so it dripped down and coated. Thinking back, priming and more conservative use should've been in order.

I've got about.. 8-12 cans sitting around my place

Can't get enough of it.
