You're forgetting the first thing here.
Do 4.5mm plastic BB's exist?

That's the first thought that came to mind as I read the initial post. I don't think these things would exist.

Even if they did, I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of one. If the gun shoots 300 with steel BBs, then plastic BBs would be a lot lighter then steel and will travel at much higher velocites.

And even if you could keep the gun at al acceptable velocity with plastic BBs, I would assume that the 4.5mm BBs would have much better flesh penetration power, because the same amount of enerygy will be delivered to the targer in a much smaller area...

I'd have to conclude the same as T7. I don't think it would be allowed, but it's really up to the organizer of them game.

4.5mm is getting too small from the perspective of goggle vents, too.

Personally my vote still sits on no.
Airsoft should be played with airsoft guns.

Well, you're also not taking into account that a 4.5mm bb weighs almost 3 times that of an 6mm airsoft bb, so saying "my gun doesn't shoot above velocity limits" is shennanigans. A typical .177 bb weighs about 8.5 grains, or roughly .55 grams. 300 fps @ .55 grams = 2.3 joules of muzzle energy. A .2 g 6mm bb travelling 500 fps has a muzzle energy of 2.32 joules, for reference.

That's far more than most people are willing to play with. Granted, your 4.5mm plastic bb is going to be much lighter, but then it will also have a higher muzzle velocity.

Suffice it to say, I doubt any reasonable game host would allow it. I wouldn't want to play against that....

...unless you let me shoot back with a primer-powered 6mm Remington firing bb's from crimped cases....then you're on.

/sarcasm

Maybe if you replaced the barrel of a 4.5mm airgun with a 6mm diameter airsoft one. Then again, none of your internals might match up anymore.

No.

This is a bad idea.

Don't modify airguns.

Don't fire airguns at anything you don't want to hurt.

Bad idea.

Drop topic.

It's just sort of ridicuous how airguns are so much more cheap and easy to obtain in Canada than airsoft weapons. But yeah, definetely should never be used for airsoft, never aim an airgun at another human being, even if it is below 500 FPS.
