Cybergun is an importer that rebrands other guns. They actually don't play very nice either -they like to sue other importers to try and get them shut down. Cybergun does not make any guns of their own.

If this SiG is a JG, I might be forced to get one some day....

it's a bit off-topic, but what are the 'plus' of the sig compared to say, an m4 or an AK ? (apart from the fact that it looks good)

I love the handling of the 552 better that a M4/AK. Most people that I heard of love their 552. Beside that, it's a personal choice I guess.

SIG and AK use version 3 mechboxes, AR uses version 2.

V3 mechbox is more durable. That can make this AEG more attractive to some than a gun based on a V2 like an Armalite.

As for the 552 MODEL over some other gun, I don't think it makes a lick of difference in airsoft. An AEG is an AEG. Properly upgraded and tuned, one will be just as accurate as another comparable model with the same internal, regardless of body style. It's really a matter of personal preference for both look and comfort.

Not quite. The SG55x series is notorious for being a pain in the ass to open up. Definitely not recommended for a newbie who wants to upgrade his gun. If you choose based on aesthetics alone, you'll end up with a cool looking gun that you can't repair if it breaks. If you know what you're doing, you won't have too many problems making sure your gun is "Properly upgraded and tuned", but if you're new to the sport you certainly will if you choose the sig.

For someone like you Crunch, what you said is completely true, one aeg is just a different looking version of another aeg. But for a newb, they're worlds apart.

That's really great to hear, is there a rail on top?

The JG one has a rail up top on the newer models.

Ok, I guess I hadn't considered the upgrade / repair option, but was making just a generalized statement about using a SIG 55x compared to another comparably equipped AEG in general. Having no experience with any SIG-based AEGs, I'm not aware of their takedown.

I spent a lot of time considering a sg550 as my next purchase before deciding against it. Spent a lot of time watching it get broken down and built up again on youtube.

You learn something new every day

I can say from experience that taking down a Sig 55X and getting her back together is a bitch and a half. I had a used one that was in very very bad shape. Ended up stripping it for parts eventually and man was it hard.

Indeed, this AEG is a bit touchy for upgrading. Be properly informed before ripping it apart. The notorious part is when you take the GB out, it's crampy and the selector swithes gears will fall.

Here's another pic of my SA 552-1:

The top rail and steel bolt are en route.

Damn you. You're making me want to spend more money that I don't have on guns.

looks like a pretty good gun.

where do they sell them in Canada? I heard Cabelas was getting new guns, is this one of them?

EDIT: Yes, Cabelas does carry this gun.

though the specs at Sig say that the thing will only shoot 265 with 0.2's

thats a big yawn...
