In fact, No new gun really should. Too often I see new players buy mid to low end guns, and assume that they need to upgrade them, usually before they even get a chance to play with them. @OP regardless of what brand you buy, Keep it stock for a while, then you can see what about the gun you want to improve (accuracy, power, rof .ect)

It would be great if cost wasn't a problem but it is. The SRC, I read somewhere here and some people had trouble with aftermarket parts like the front rails and barrel. I'm really like the VFC 416 tho. Just a lil but much for my wallet. Does anyone have the JG 416 from VA? I want to know what kind of experience they have with that. Seems a lil bit better for a starter gun don't u think?

The new JG's are great starters and do not need anything out of the box. no matter what brand you brand budget for a good battery and charger.

All 416 will have "problems" with front ends, since it's not designed the same as a standard M4.
If you want to swap the front end, why choose an HK416? They are (in airsoft) pretty much the same as an M4, except their front end and upper receiver are higher and has a continuous rail. Internal parts are the usual V2 parts. @Moretoasties: The bolt wasn't stuck open. It has a bolt lock feature. Just pull then release the bolt handle, it will close. Or, push on the handle and it will close too.

Yea, I can't wait to get AVed. I'm waiting to meet up sometime next week. I read the Hk416 that TokyoSeven got. That one looks pretty sweet. Do you know if that bottom receiver can be replaced with a metal one?

Also, I believe Tokyo sevens review is of the Gen 1 JG 416s. The new gen 2s are considerably better. They have overhauled internals, Metal receivers, and mosfet chips.

If there is even a small chance of wanting to changing the front end you need to pick a different gun. the 416 is not what you want.

You will most likely have this problem with all HK416, SRC, VFC, JG/VA and DBoys. Their front-end isn't the same as the M4.
If you want to do that, chose a standard M4, and S-Sytem or whatever. EDIT: What Tex said^^

if you want a trouble free HK416 get any hurricane 416 if you can pry it off some people. don't cheap out airsoft is like a car don't expect a ferrari like performance from a honda even if it is all riced up.

The rail is keyed so the foregrip and upper receiver lock together instead of the more common delta ring type attachment you see on something like a M4. So yes changing the front end out could be impossible. I'm not sure what you'd want to change too, and it seems anyone with a M4 is scabbing rails onto their rifle and pulling the front sight for a gas block so I can't really see that being a negative. At the end of the day it's an airsoft gun so the only difference between it and most other AR variants is just cosmetic. At the same time if you like the look go for it. If you want something really unique build one of the proto 416s like in this picture.

i bought one like 2 yrs ago.what i did was change bushing to metal one's,change the spring.the only prob i had with this gun,was the spring on the trigger was missing from day one.(it made it jump into safety at times, put new one in,works great)
i got this gun and it was shooting over 450fps out of the box,but that changed after using it to like 330fps,so i put new spring and now shoot 350fps steady. with that said this is a great gun for the price. |

Wow, there's so much for me to learn. The only reason why I like the 416 is bc of the continuous of the rail system. But now I think about it, if I ever wanted to change the look, it would be a bitch to do. If I got and M4 S-System, that would be just as good with the rail and I could change the front end if ever I need for a different look. I read good things about the 416 quality and the reg m4 has too many variants and too many different probs. If I could find a good price JG version in the classified, I'll just go with that. If not, I'll get a reg M4 with the s-system. Thank you everyone for your input. Its been very helpful,
