Yes, its true that its not a goal but merely a limit. But I also don't see anything wrong with a 400 FPS shot at a close range (still respecting the standard 10 mercy rule, lets say 15 feet for arguments sake) that is well placed at center mass or anywhere away from the face. Will it hurt? You bet your ass. Should someone start crying about it? I'd rather not play with people who are afraid of getting shot as they tend to ruin the game. All within reason, and a little pain and a little blood is not a big deal. In the words of Brian McIllmoyle "We've all bled for the cause."

sure but how do you know he is capable of hitting center mass?

Well from 15 feet away if he can't hit centre mass or an extremity and aims for the head, that kinda person doesn't usually last long in their community. And generally helps playing with people you know can handle those kinda velocities safely.

Lol, I just had to come on and say something. Me and the group I play on have 3 private fields which we play on weekly. My one friend is gaming a PTW firing 550 fps, I game a G&G mp5 G5 firing at 375 fps. Other guns in the field include various bolt action spring snipers firing 450+, JG g36 firing 435fps, G&G m4 firing 420 fps, 2 Kraken ak47's one is stock, the other is firing at 420fps. Anyways, basically what I'm saying is when playing airsoft we all know the risk of getting a tooth knocked out or getting some skin shot off; wear a mouth guard, wear form fitting protective glasses. We have more people joining our little community all the time and no one gets mad about the velocities. Just on the christmas holidays we had a game and I took a shot from a sniper in the face shooting 475 from about 8 feet, looked like a good decent zit but overall perfectly fine. Paintballs hit WAY harder, most people that play down here use 0.25g or 0.3g, all velocities are in 0.2g chrono'd. Basically I don't understand where this fear or anger comes from that people have about guns shooting hot.
As for the question, I'd suggest 2 guns to save you the hassle of taking a gun apart if you've never done it before. If the limit is 400 and you're just being considerate bringing your fps down, then don't even worry about it because pellets don't hurt that much anywayz. |

Just set it at 350 and leave it. 350 is fine for outdoor use if you're using good BB's and the rest of the gun is tuned well (like a good quality and properly set up hop-up).
Either that or get 2 guns. Quote:

The 400 FPS limit for many Ontario fields and clubs is an arbitrary number that they have agreed upon. We have higher limits out west.

The fact of the matter is that the higher the velocity, the greater the likelihood of serious injury, even with protection. You can say "well, we're all friends and we're all fine with it", until someone gets seriously hurt. Then the scary liability stuff happens.

Well in CQB its a different story. Obviously the limit should be lower than outdoor as you do not have bush and wind to fight through. If someone is playing the more from whack-a-mole and all you have is a headshot then I see no problem as long as your distance from the player is enough not to cause injury. This is why face protection is something that should not just be recommended but mandatory. Doesn't have to be a mask per se even just a well wrapped shemagh or something that will absorb the shock. And yes, if you don't have face protection then its highly advised you wear a mouth guard or something to save your pearly whites. Ask The Tooth and his instance at the TWAT field last year or the year before.

If you aren't wearing full face protection in CQB than you are just asking for it.
