hmmmmmm... maybe a PSG1 fluted outer barrel...
not sure but after you put the front on a 595mm barrel fits perfectly in the gun

FYI MG's aren't fun to operate at scrims, you go through WAY too much ammo for a small game lol

Very much agree.
When I had my RPK sure the odd one or two times it was fun to shoot wild and blow through rounds like hot cakes, but in the end it hurt my pocket just that little bit more.

Now sure you can argue BB's are only $10-15 but that's still some money going down the drain.

Some call it stupid, but I like to run my RPK just as another AEG basically.
I'll use semi auto or 2-3 round bursts.

Just my style and my opinion.

actually if you don't care about internals, just buy a cheap CYMA drop in gearbox and just use it till it breaks. lipo + cheap CYMA gearbox = instant gratification

yeah this will be a scenerio/mil sim only gun... either covering my butt, or me covering my teammates butts, depends on what the sim is and what's required.

I already have a "main" and a "back up" for general play

this won't be a cheap or fast build.. but that's why I asked here, to see the tried and proven combinations and do it right

I'd suggest using:
- no more than a 110 spring.
- use a large cell 3000mAh+ 8.4v battery.
- steel gears, they don't have to be special just not pot metal. For a 110 spring you can go torque up, or you can stick with normal ratio. If you're worried about velocity the 110 should give you 390-400 fps with 0.2g depending on company and your seals.
- G&G reinforced piston. (personal favourite use w/e floats your boat)
- I always go for a systema silent kit, but seeing as this is a rpk and a V3, you could go with whatever you want. (aluminum screams HOOHA lol). whatever piston head you choose make sure it has bearings.
- Metal bearing spring guide.
- plastic/metal hopup, grab metal but shouldn't matter.
- G&G green hopup rubber if you can find it, they gottem on ASGI I think, but that's my preference grab whatever hopup you like best.
- Grab whatever brand of cylinder, unported though as your barrel is probably going to be longish.
- as far as barrels go I wouldn't make it super tight, buy whatever you hear is good lol.
You could save considerable money just buying a JG ver.3 complete mechbox and then just upgrade it. That way you have spare parts and you'll save money. You can get a better box by buying the Action 8mm complete ver.3 mechbox from airsoftparts.ca. Upgrade that when it breaks on you.

hey guys... I realize the flames that will follow ... but on the basis that this will be a special use only RPK (aka it won't be my main and used alot)

what about a metal piston and piston head, cyl head

in a blow back mechbox with a weighted ejection port? ... I DO realize the extra parts to grenade and how much harder on the internals this will be. ...

anyone know where to get a blow back AK mechbox? like a Cyma or G&G?

Maybe just a total GBB conversion with an external rig?

Reckless, just for reference I use an aluminum piston and head, with a TM plastic cylinder head and a mostly TM V3 mechbox, in my TM AUG.

well I'm really not worried about it being quiet, infact a nice loud rackety tack RPK might be a help LOL

... the weighted blowback is just something that popped into my head... might be kinda fun to get a little kick in an rpk

no... G&G and Cyma are both bringing out (have brought out) stock blow back AEGS... of the AK variety. G&G is pnuematic, cyma is linked to the piston
