A) Its a lot safer than more known hobbies, like collecting guns or sports like football B) It's the ultimate real life video game and on a side note haha you Canadian dudes had to spend thousands of dollars on overpriced guns, whoo I never get tired of of that. and C) I love it and would defend it to the death with a PBer or anyone else for that matter. No reason needed.

my reason: absolut fun, you don't have 5.56 cartridges in your gun everyday, so we put 6mm BB's instead, that's why!

Well I started off playing hockey then soccer, I found out that I sucked at every single sport you could think of except for those asian ones, I owned in badminton but it didn't seem cool and sounded very geeky.
I found Airsoft when I went back to taiwan and can I say, it rocks.

Being a milsim/scenario geek I got into paintball (written off airsoft, having only seen clearsoft) spent over 2 years trying to put together a stable team to no avail (played CSPPL and organized a 200 body scenario game in the fall for the last 4 years too)
within weeks of getting introduced to Airsoft by ArmyIssue (bought my son's Cadet boots there) I had a gun, found a team and had played 2 games on my private field. I have no use for TV sports (go support little league instead) and contempt for "euphemisms" (saying darn instead of damn/f**k etc.) the basis of all sport is ritualized combat, following that line, I'd rather "play" combat that some abstracted form of it. plus the guns are a hell of a lot cooler than paintball :-P Airsoft FTW \m/ |

I was going to join paintball... local area is 99% speedball, which had no interest to me. I wanted scenerio/milsim type play.
by luck I stumbled across airsoft and jumped in fully my first time out in a milsim... hooked me honestly.. airsoft is my cheapest hobby, it shares space with my custom 64F100 build/race ... and RC boat modeling. I love to fix/build/tinker and do custom work... airsoft allows me to do such, and as a bonus get out of the house, blow off aggression ... and like everyone said already shoot friends.. and still have friends at the end of the day!

Reckless:
Really? There's no stock or open class leagues? I know that sometimes some of the local fields in Vancouver will have stock/open class games but it's not very often since the bulk of their money is made from paint and therefore speedballers are their main source of income.
