Email the gundoc in my area have not gotten a reply yet. I also got a quote from the velocity arms which was a $100 for spring replacement and rewiring. I thought to my self i rather use the 100 for upgrades and do them myself.

As long as you're careful not to dump everything out of the mechbox (i.e. shims/etc..) swapping a front for a rear wired switch assembly is very straight forward. Pay attention to how things are laid out in there...make note of how the cutoff lever sits under the switch block...return spring, etc... There's pics on the web of how the wires are typically run for a rear wired mechbox...not rocket science. If you've got a KA mechbox...I'd stick with a KA switch unit (Airsoftparts.ca carries them). It's usually a safe bet to not mix/match brands of stuff. If all that didn't make sense...find a gun doc to help you out. * if you're in TO...and going to the TAC12 convention...if you can get the mechbox out of the gun (don't bring the gun...just the mechbox, grip and motor)...visit the gear swap area, ask for me and I'll show you how to do it. I've read through some of your other posts in other threads and seen your questions about bodies/upgrades/etc... We'll be working on some stuff throughout the day...and I suspect we'll be doing a few scratch builds at the very least. I won't charge you a dime...but there'll be a charity jar for donations to a good cause. Last edited by m102404; March 8th, 2012 at 09:41.. |

Hire HKGHOST. Guy is fast at everything, I recommend him. Plus he gets parts directly from airsoftparts.

Just worked on a buddy's KA m4 this weekend actually...
I can confirm the dust cover doesn't close, additionally had an issue with the stock piston not being engaged by the gears. Everything would spin freely. Swapped in an upgraded piston, everything is now working fine. Bad batch maybe? |

KA gearboxes are usually decent, however with all my guns i always swap the piston out for a Prometheus Hard Piston, Arguably the Best pistons around

The dust cover and receiver fitment on this gun is absolutely brutally insane. I'm not sure this happens to every single one or if there is a batch with especially tight tolerances, but it can sometimes take nearly forever to get this thing reassembled afterwards.
Problems with the dust cover or release are definitely a result of these tight tolerances.

The retailer said that he could pay the gundoc near my area if i choose too or ship it back to him which i will pay. Then he will ship it back at his cost. Which i have to pay a certain amount to get it fix rather get it fix for free but will it be a good idea to go with the gundoc? Any suggestions?

I'm not sure who your local gundoc is, but if it were me, I'd just send it to Venture.
