Dude, listen to the advice.

There's nothing technically WRONG with the FAMAS. I myself had a nicely converted one with a 590mm PSG-1 tightbore and a bull barrel outer and the thing absolutely rocked ass. FAMAS G2 Sniper goodness. I actually have a video of it in action here:

YouTube- Killing Spree 3

But I had a lot of help and support for putting that package together and from experience...I do not recommend it for new players. Get something more generic like an M4 which you CAN mess around with and figure out the customization you want to go for.

Honestly. While the P90 is good, if you want the range of a rifle, stick with either an AUG or a TAR-21 (Tavor).

Between those two, the AUG is your best bet. It has been around for awhile and is tried and true. The V.3 mechbox is solid by design and has MANY parts for it that will let you upgrade it to your hearts content.

The Tavor is relatively new to the airsoft scene. It uses a V.6 mechbox, which is also solid and has spare parts available, but the company that makes it has been known to cut corners on some things. I saw a review that said it was great at first, but as time went on, parts started to fail. They can all be replaced, but the Tar-21 is expensive to begin with at $500 USD = $800 here (give or take).

Your best bet in order to get a gun and play without having to worry about breaking or upgrading would be a TM AUG. If you REALLY want a tavor, be prepared to shell out a lot of money for both the gun, upgrades and gundoc services. Or, wait and see if the company improves the gun.

Get an TM AUG if you like guns similar to the FA-MAS. The AUGs great stock and you can get them for pretty cheap. I got mine for 350$ with 10 mags and it fires great stock. It's not neccisary to upgrade it but if you want to the AUG is easily upgradeable with the V3 gearbox. My 2 cents.

So i have been looking around the internet for repair parts for the famas like motors and such and they do exsist. It just not all the common. So the gun is fixable if it does crap out in some way.

Im still after one tho. I love the feel of it to much to change my habits. I just need to find one. Thats the hard part.... Unless i get age verified maybe someone would have a used deal up in the classified's. Aside from that i cant for the life of me find any web sites in canada that sell a AEG Famas what so ever.... They all sell my clear spring job one. Thats sad.

So in say all that any words of wisedom would be nice.

The only place you'll find a FA-MAS in Canada is in the ASC classifieds (which means getting AV'd). However, they do turn up from time to time. So if you want one, and get AV'd, you just have to be patient.
