the AA-12. a gas version would probly be the easyest to make. and the shells wouldent have to eject, just cycle back through the drum mag.
Mk19 who doesnt want a belt fed full auto 40mm grenade launcher. |

No.. 4.2 Caliber is 1.016mm exactly.
the decimal used in firearms that precedes the caliber is notational and not mathematical. Hence a .50 Caliber bullet is actually a 50 cl bullet which is 12.7mm which is .50 of an inch. if you used the notational period literally then a 4.20 Caliber bullet would be a 106.68mm caliber bullet or a 10 and a half centimeter projectile. Which in the case of the golden gun is actually wider then the total physical dimensions of the gun as it would in reality measure 420 Caliber units. The reason for this is that Caliber is only used to measure objects with a size less than one inch. Anything larger would be measured in inches as Caliber is literally the decimal expression of an inch, hence the notational .xx Caliber in this case. In actuality the magazine misprinted the article and it should have red 4.2 mm as in the movie it is clearly described as such. Last edited by Rugger_can; March 15th, 2011 at 12:57.. |

Caliber is the measure of the bullet diameter. It can be expressed in inches or millimeters. 5.56mm is a caliber as is .223. It is just easier to say .23 caliber than it is to say 5.56mm caliber. Caliber is a notation that is not restricted to less than an inch. 40mm is a caliber that is greater than an inch.
So 4.2 caliber could be used to denote 4.2mm. |

You sir are confusing Caliber with diameter expressed in millimeters they do not mean the same thing. Caliber is the decimal expression of inches of the internal diameter of a rifled barrel measured from the groves (usually) expressed in the unit Caliber or cl. The diameter of a .223 Caliber round when expressed in millimeters is 5.56mm. It is not called a 5.56mm Caliber round. It is a common misunderstanding. Not a Sten gun, it's a Sterling. If someone put out that Stormtrooper blaster you'd have folks converting them back to the original flavor before you could blink.
