If you were to go to a field game with your favourite AEG and stand beside a guy shooting a good PTW, with the hopup mod....the decision would be done right there. Find out about them as much as you can...it is a lot of money to tie up. Another upside is...they're retaining their value for resale. |

KWA have their own Magpul PMAG for LM4 and not compatible with G&P. If you want PMAG for KWA, you should purchase from KWA USA. |

If you have the money ya. A gameable systema w/ mags and everything could hit you about 3 grand though.

If you're looking for quality, but aren't looking to break your back with costs (especially if you're looking to upgrade/add-on) G&P is pretty good, and WE Tech has come out with an AEG M4 that doesn't cost much and is almost completely Tokyo Marui compatible. I have one myself and I'm hitting players at 180ft. without issue and my hop-up isn't even cranked all the way up. Search different retailers though; as stated previously, it's more about what your requirements are rather than what is "best". Everyone has a different opinion about what best is. If this is your first M4 and/or are just getting into airsoft, I wouldn't get too excited about trying to go top of the line just yet. Find something that works well and will last you so you can test the waters, and then upgrade to something better/different later on if you feel the need to.

+1 This man knows what he is talking about. The best AEG IMO would be the FCC custom ptw. My teammate owns one. What a beast of a gun. Need deep pockets to own one though.

My team owns over a dozen PTWs including a TW5, M4 CQB, M16 A3, and M4 A1 guns. Everything from Gen 1 to Final Evolutions.
We also own a bunch of AEGs including Tokyo Marui, King Arms, Classic Army, Star (Pre Ares), ICS, etc. Including M4 A1s (and variants), MP5s (and variants), L85, UMP, G3 SG1, G36 (and variants), XM-8, M16 (and variants), M14 (and variants), M249, Galil, and the list goes on and on and on. We've had few GBBRs, but what we have owned is WE Open bolt M14 with RA Tech internals, Area AW .338 bolt action, and a KWA M4 A1. Many of friends run GBBRs, and we've attended endless games and seen hundreds in action. I can tell you without a doubt; PTWs are better all around in every area by a noticeable margin, except one (realistic action/sound is owned by the GBBR with a moving bolt system). After testing with measured targets, weather conditions, multiple encvironments, and anything you can think of we'd take a stock PTW over any ten fully and properly upgraded AEG or GBBR. That's for game purposes, not collecting. After working on a few CTWs, I can tell you that they are nail drivers out of the box, but are not the same. They have some decent points, but nothing that beats out a PTW worth mentioning. They are not designed as well, and are plagued by problems. I have seen a good one, that lasted pretty good; but nothing to write home to mom about. They are exactly what they seem to be, "a cheap clone". In my opinion I'd take a properly upgraded AEG over one. Not for performance because a CTW will rape an AEG, but for long term reliability and peace of mind. There is two reasons people tend to hate on the PTWs. Number one is because they can't afford one, and two is because they only make very common gun types. People tend to hate believing that their gun isn't as good, or cannot be the best. But I can tell you that I've seen it, and whatever it is, it just doesn't stack up. And that players that play as much as I do, and can afford them wouldn't use them if they were not clearly the best. Im not ripping on other guns. Remember that the player makes up for seventy five percent or more of effectiveness. That a solid and properly tuned AEG is better than "good enough". You don't need a PTW to succeed at airsoft. In fact I've seem a few players that use it as a crutch, because they rely on the distance, accuracy, and punch it puts out.

Thanks Ricochet, this is clearing things up
I'm looking to buy a PTW or FCC but need the more info I can get before making a decision because at this price tag, I want to be sure this is the right decision. It this true PTW might not be the most realistic guns compared with a GBBR but for me, accuracy, performance and reliability are much more important than the kick of a blow back. There is also Real Sword that are working on a New M4/M16 AEG with electro-pneumatic recoil system. Real Sword are pretty good guns but It has been almost 2 years since the annoncement but they are still not on the market yet... What about the new KWA M4 with 3GX gearbox ? Has anyone saw it in action ? Last edited by Warlock; August 23rd, 2012 at 19:25.. |

Real sword has in fact made some pretty cool guns. As far as Airsoft goes, usually wait a few years before buying any "new" system. There will always be bugs.
A Systema PTW is the absolute closest to feel and weight to the real thing. My military friends are always impressed by it's structure. Being that it's an electric system though it has absolutlely no kick when fired. The GBBR however, does. Not realistic kick or sound, but enough to make it interesting. PTWs require different care and maintenance than other guns. If you want to know tge utmost about them, read any posts on ASC by MacGuyver, and any international threads by Tackleberry out of the UK. The PTW has one major downfall, and that is the motor. It's design is remarkable, and is makes AEG motors look like toys. The problem comes with the manufacturing. The motors are prone to developing dead spots due to their armatures being wound too tightly. This means your motor may last for four years, or four months. You can have them hand wound by Tackleberry if this happens which will add years of life to them. But it isn't cheap to do, as you must ship them to the UK. It is however, totally worth it. Understand that PTW accessories such as magazines, cylinders, etc are also expensive compared to many other guns. Once again, it's worth it but you'll pay. Fifty a magazine and near two hundred for a cylinder. As for FCC, we haven't personally put those parts through their paces ourselves. I've heard mostly good things so far, as they have some interesting ideas. Their motors have mixed reviews. But you may find more in depth reviews from the US right now about them.
