So basically you're saying smuggling?
Not that I'm against it, but that could get you in a huge pile of shit.

Well , no according to the law there is nothing illegal about owning replicas.

but technically you can't buy them or sell them.

there is no point shouting the sky is falling... when it already fell 9 years ago in 1998 when replica firearms were proscribed as prohibited devices.

Look how much airsoft has grown since then.. lots.. and it will weather this storm as well...

The Airsoft community in Canada has grown since that time.. and it will continue to do so despite the current trend in enforcement.

I have used this analogy before...

Everyone who has airsoft guns are like the casual Pot smoker... you have enough around to get you and a few friends high... sure its "illegal" but the cops don't really care... This is the individual airsoft owner.. who occasionaly sells a gun or two to his friends.

then you have the "small time dealers" who deal a bit to their friends.. and their friends friends. yeah its illegal.. and the cops keep an eye on it to make sure things don't get too big. This is the "small group order importer" who brings in a few guns a year.. and takes the risk of customs seizing the stuff.

Then you have the "large importers" licensed importers who bring in a lot of guns under prop licenses .. and sell the guns illegally to individuals contraveining the conditions of their licenses. These guys are the "grow ops" who eventually attract law enforcment attention and get pressured to shut down or get charged.

As long as we stay within the first 2 groups law enforcment will likely tolerate us... but anyone who moves up to the third group is looking for trouble.

Better up then none at all.

I hope your right Brian, I've been in a shitty mood since ASCA went down. It would be nice to think this game will be intact for awhile. We'll see.

Hmm. Not so much. It explicitly says that you cannot acquire prohibited devices (airsoft, replicas) so how can you own one without getting one?

Yeah yeah... But... the law does not forbid you from possessing replicas aquired any time.. Once you have them.

the aqusition aspect is tied up in the transfer laws..

In the absence of evidence of the transfer who's to say when, where , how it came into your possession? without that evidence no one is going to lay charges.

The transfer would need to be observed and witnessed... this is how they got that fella out in Quebec ... they ( the police) staked out a game and got pictures of him selling out of his car trunk... nabbed!

So really the effort ( and cost) necessary to charge people is quite high.. and so unlikely to happen to individuals.

So once you have one... your possession is legal despite the aquisition being illegal.

This is depressing, WCG must have just announced this this week. Last week they were still selling guns. Come back from Exercise and everything goes to crap. Glad a have a few rifles to keep me going.

Fucking stupid Canadian laws. The government doesn't even know what it's trying to do. Or doing it half-assed.

The RCMP out in western Canada sure wasn't in a big hurry to enforce the law on all the unregistered real firearms floating around out here. I am pretty sure they won't be in a huge hurry to enforce some new law on airsoft either.

Worse comes to worse I will start up a company and make a film. It may take me years and years of rehearsals of my big battle scene before I start filming though.

well

LOL Grant, make sure you continue to recruit lots of "extras" and have that movie's script stretch over a number of years to incorporate the newest technology wherever possible.

I can "foresee" reshoots as the camera guy forgot to put film in the camera, batteries and removing lense caps. Also we cannot forget teh cast showing up to discover the film crew didnt but going through with a dress rehersal

Of course, Airsoft weapons would be the object of choice, since there's no danger like real guns but they look real.
And you might change your mind a lot on your choice of weapons, perhaps? Having to constantly import and change them?

as annoying as it is to ssay, ive been a pampered child since well... ever. I shall go to parliament, with financial backing from the family, and protest fro change!!!!

they really do need to loosen up the laws though.. its not the $600 - $1500 REAL airsoft they need to worry about, its all that damn clearsoft.. people who pay big money are more likely to act responsibly then a kid who goes to CT and buys a springer to play in the park.... Sadly however, there will never be a raid on canadian tire, walmart or any places like them
