How so? Let the little fucking monkeys shoot their eyes out, it'll teach them a lifelong lesson...

The lesson will be: Its not my fault I was stupid and put my eye out. It was the fault of evil airsoft guns. Even the soccer moms and the government say so!

Which is why our community makes every effort to clearly and firmly dissociate itself from underaged players with crapsoft.

Yes our community does do this, but does it matter? Its not like the anti's will ever acknowledge that we put massive amounts of effort into promoting safety and responsible gun use.

Will it keep certain retailers from still selling to minors? Or parents careless buying guns for their kids and then failing to supervise them? No. Will our promoting safety and responsible gun use and proper use of airsoft help? Only those willing to listen, which in most cases aren't the people mentioned above anyway. But if an incident does happen, you want to make sure nobody (read "the media") can turn around and point a finger at us, or show some report on CBC about how they enlisted some 12 y.o kid who was then able to easily get access to a gun because of us.

Hmm. your comments make sense. However I still think its a loosing battle. Those who are inclined to point a finger at us will still find a reason, even if its just "this would never have happened if those guys at ASC didn't make airsoft look so fun and enjoyable."

Got my L96 off Shootsoft (When it was new, mind you). Came with the barrel scratched up, BBs scattered everywhere (inside the HEAVILY beaten box), the trigger guard missing a piece of plastic, and one of the sears snapped in half. I would hardly call that new. Still, I was reassured that it was 'new' and because I didn't want to go through the hassle of mailing it to whoever his distributor was -- I ended up opening the gun and fixing the broken parts with some epoxy. I haven't dealt with Shootsoft since and have no future plans to. |

I initially considered them for buying my L85 two years ago but the email & PM communications threw me off.
Days to over a week worth of waiting to get a copypasta reply in Jean Chretien' style frenglish that left a couple simple yet critial questions unanswered (along the lines of "is it already in Canada" and "will you test it before shipping") made my "buyer sense" tingle. |

If an incident happened tomorrow morning and some wannabe-clever news type decided to come poking around to see if they could find something they could stick on us, they'd be dealt a swift backhand after reading a few of Pusangani's replies to underaged kids trying to get a gun :P And I think most people are still sensitive enough to realize "this would never have happened if those guys at ASC didn't make airsoft look so fun and enjoyable" is a bit of a straw man fallacy... sorta like the arguments against tobacco sponsorships, which would have us believe simply seeing the logo will make us want to smoke (everyone in marketing would be on welfare or flipping burgers at McD's). And just to rant, that was like the one single positive contribution tobacco companies were making: now they're selling just as much tobacco products, making as much profits, and all those sporting and entertainment events that were receiving money are now underfunded. Good going, Big Brother, thanks for saving me from that horrible duMaurier logo.
