Newbie question about brands/fake marpat
Hey all. I'm trying to decide whether to order propper brand stuff ( a bit more expensive) or rothco(cheaper). I want woodland digital, is that a licensed replica of marpat for both brands?
In case anyone is curious, I'm going to my first event where I will get aved! Products: Propper: https://www.armynavydeals.com/asp/pr...U=PRF547038393 https://www.armynavydeals.com/asp/pr...U=PRF521138393 Ultraforce Rothco: http://www.armynavydeals.ca/asp/prod...LAND%20DIGITAL http://www.armynavydeals.ca/asp/prod...LAND%20DIGITAL Regards, TV |

Ive never heard of the Rothco brand, but gear is like airsoft, you get what you pay for. Its even moreso because of what you dont see, such as stitching. It doesn't matter if the material is woven with titanium if the stitching is made out of straw.
Propper is an amazing company with VERY high-quality stuff. Follow the washing instructions and it wont fade much either. Is it worth the extra money? Yes if you plan on using it. If you just want to walk around and look Tacticool, than go with the cheaper stuff, but if you want to game with it, get Propper. |

I'm definitely preferring paying more for quality, and I think now for sure I'll grab the proper stuff. About the other thing though, is that actual spec marpat or what?

i dont know enough about Marpat to help you on that one. Just the brand. I use Propper, but in Multicam
EDIT: Chances are if its proper, its real-spec. That is another thing about them. They are the real deal with everything. |

I don't think Propper is. I think you're confusing it with Tru-Spec.
Get either Propper or Tru-Spec and you can't go wrong. I've heard rothco isn't that great moreso it's for hippies/hipsters being "ironic" or w/e they make some crazy ass patterns.

Yeah, Tru-Spec is a very good brand in my opinion.

yes tru-spec is good. Its more of a personal thing. If i can get something in propper, i get it in propper. If it only comes in tru-spec, then ill get it in tru-spec and not bat an eye at it.

Yeah can't blame you there, Tru-Spec stuff is so f*cking expensive... =(

I've owned both the Propper and Rothco.
Rothco isn't bad, Its actually missing a color (The light brown/tan color) but isn't a shitty material, it actually isnt' far off from the quality of what real marpat uses. Again, its just missing a color in the pattern. Lol. I got pretty picky about that. |

... Are we talking about the same rothco? The one I'm talking about is for "urb4n gAng57aZ" the one that makes "Savage Orange", "Sky Blue", "Stinger Yellow" and "Ultra Violet"...
I always thought of it as low quality stuff because it expects "light use" in an "urban streetwear" setting rather than out in the bush crawling through mud and such and rolling around in the dirt and grass.

Buy the good stuff, its cheaper then an average pair of mid end jeans and they last much longer.
My propper BDU's lasted through two seasons of airsoft and several camping trips before failing. |

@ Lonewolf: I guess I was wrong then. Rothco just seems like a brand that you buy at like halloween or something for cheap and then toss it in the back of your closet until next year. You know light duty stuff that will fall apart if you use it too much or use it roughly. Anyways I still say Propper or Tru-Spec but nothing beats (certain pieces of) issued stuff IMO.

Dude, i have a set of tru spec Marpat (Digital Woodland) TRU's, and they are amazing! I've seen Propper in some stores, and there good too, but I just prefer tru spec. Almost exact match to the real deal (again I've seen the real deal).
But again, its whatever you like, right? I went with the Tru spec because I wanted to buy the majority of my gear from one place (Opsgear). Best of luck in your decision. EDIT: Where do you live? If a more forested place ie (West Coast) id suggest getting OD gear w/your marpat, wheres if you lived in a more desert place (like where i live) I'd get Coyote brown. Anyway, make sure you take into account where you live.
