2-piece Hop Up Air Seal Issues
I recently put a new mechbox in my JG HK416 and the gearbox itself works fine, however, I'm having air seal issues with the 2-piece hopup. The BBs feed into the chamber fine, however, they won't fire. If I take the top half of the hop up out and just hold it against the mechbox it works fine (BB fires). I'm not sure why it's not sitting right inside the gun.
I've tried shaving a bit off the front of the tappet so it rests more forward and I'm using the longest V2 nozzle I have and have tried 2 different tappet plates. This is really starting to piss me off. Would switching to a 1-piece hop-up solve this? What else could I do?

Go with the 1 piece hop up. For your current problem, it may be that the nozzle is pushed into the chamber too far and so the bbs aren't loading.

The BB loads. I think it's actually the nozzle not being pushed in far enough causing it not to seal properly with the hop up rubber.

Here is a test.
Take a BB and insert it into the hopup unit as if it was loaded. Now take the air nozzle not installed and insert it into the hopup chamber. with your thumb push down on the nozzle so it seals tightly and shake the whole unit. If you hear rattling it's the airseal issue that you are looking for. If it DOES NOT rattle then it's not the airseal issue you are looking for. Could be the rubber you are using is not interfacing with your nozzle very well. |

Is the little spring on the top of the hop-up chamber in place? That is what puts pressure against the mechbox.
