Ehobby asia: Full of @#$% or just Retarded?
I placed an order with ehobby asia 4 days ago and paid for express courier service ( 3-5 days shipping ).
After not receiving a shipping notice from ehobby all week; today at the end of their business day they sent me an email: Dear Michael, Thank you for your order. Because of the customs restriction, there is at a risk of seizure case with your items. In this case, we are unable to guarantee a successful delivery for your package. ยท DYTAC T-1 Red Dot Sight w/ KAC Style QD Mount (CNC) So, did the fine employees at ehobby sustain a serious head injury, or start smoking crack? Ehobby lost me as a customer with this one, seems like a petty stall tactic when a simple sorry would have sufficed. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED! Check the tracking #
You can check the dates and status by logging in on their website. So far, from what you told me, ehobby didnt do anything wrong so long as the product was shipped. Read the fine print man, they even state that they are not responsible for any items making it to the destination, restricted or not. They as the seller completed their responsbility by shipping the item. Its up to you "as the importer" to ensure safe receipt into the country.

Hi,
Sorry for any misunderstanding: Nothing was shipped. They took 4 days to ask me if I wanted to take seizure risk on the shippment with nothing restricted in it, the item of concern was a QD Aimpoint replica. Now I have to wait the weekend for them to ship it, a full 7 days after payment was made... for absolutely no good reason. Point of the thread: Ehobby asia customer service is getting unbelievably horrible, websites like redwolf and WGC shop offer similar products, prices and shipping quotes with far superior customer service. I wouldn't do business with these clowns if I were you! |

Ok, what does the possibility of the shipment being seized at customs and Ehobby notifying you of this (however low) have anything to do with the turn around time of shipping.
If the item was shipped late and you paid for express shipping then state those facts and back them up. Like the man said, "All we want are the facts, ma'am".. err sir? *edit after reading last post* Ok, well then email them back and demand recompense for express shipping, complaining on ASC is fine and dandy, but ultimately you have to be responsible for your own choices. If they refuse then your claim that their customer service in your happenstance was unsatisfactory, until such time try to view it from the perspective of them making sure that you where aware of any risks of seizure before proceeding with your order taking into account that they could not possibly know that you where already aware of any minor risks and formally educated on Canadian customs and import practice in relation to this scope. Also bear in mind that the scope in question technically skirts the boarder on Canadian copyright laws and could in theory be seized should someone actually feel like doing so. (although the laws are weak they do exist). Last edited by Rugger_can; August 20th, 2010 at 12:20.. |

Excuse me?
The chance of the shipment getting seized is 0. Using any perceived risk falsely as a guise to cover up your inability to ship something on time is not cool. as for "backing my facts up" what do you honestly expect here... take my word for it? |

So....I've got to ask this every now and then...
Are the $ savings that you get by ordering it overseas vs. from a local (i.e. Canadian shop like Airsoftparts.ca) worth the issues with headaches, unknown schedules, comms, etc..? I'm not knocking anyone who orders their own stuff...not at all...just looking for a recent/up-to-date opinion. *note* a knockoff RDS shouldn't get seized...but customs hold things all the time and then the process to release it starts. I know plenty of guys who ordered stuff (not the no-no stuff...just regular stuff) where it was held for further inspection, miscategorized, etc... Alot of HK sites tend to take 2-3 days for processing. Ehobby is a little slower, but Ive never had trouble from them before.
Its quite possible that some of their staff are confused and not up to par on canadian law. With the clarification, I do agree that this was not a good move on their part. I highly doubt they will do anything about it, but really its not that uncommon for most HK retailers to do exactly what was stated above. Dont kid yourself, WGC, Redwolf, UNCompany, Airsoft Global etc etc do EXACTLY the same thing. Quote:
Customs does what Customs Wants. Its up to the Importer to do the work to get it cleared up.

You can save alot of money, or waste alot of time; sometimes both at once... its a crap shoot.
Usually I place orders because I want something very specific that is not available "in-country" |

Im not defending them, just saying that more info was needed. No need to get upset man. Quote:
Indeed, customs usually only seizes massive shipments of counterfeit goods because it looks like they "stopping crime" but the laws and mechanics do exists to seize counterfeit goods that they believe infringe upon copyrighted goods, usually goods bearing trademarks or other counterfeit logo's (like a shipping container full of fake prada bags or some crap like that). Not saying that's going to happen, just saying that it is (theoretically anyway) possible. In any case, delays suck. Last edited by Rugger_can; August 20th, 2010 at 12:31.. |

This is the way importation works, this is why people pay Importers with importation licenses like me to get their parts in without hassle, worry free. You chose to import the items yourself to save money, therefore you chose to take on the hassles and issues importers have to deal with every day. As I stated previously, this is 100% normal in dealing with businesses in HK. Bitching about a "delay" just makes you sound like a whiney little kid.

Word of the wise, if your ordering airsoft parts or anything airsoft related. Give yourself a few weeks breathing room if possible. I find that mitigates the rage. (Also I wanted to quote Joe Friday for some time now and figured this was a great opportunity. Sorry If my message was alittle "garbled".) Cheers. Quote:
If you review that statement a little closer, you will find that a vast majority of Airsofters often sound just like this from time to time. Myself included. Obviously you have experience with importing (as you stated) and he is only aware of his own perceptions as a customer, kicking him because he is dissatisfied with a service rendered is not going to accomplish much. By your own admittance importing is a pain in the ass and Im sure you at some point have turned to a co-worker/employee/whatever and bitched about a delay or problem that was outside of your control. The mark of a good retailer is if you get what you ordered in a reasonable amount of time. Expedited shipping is a waste of money if the items is not shipped on the day of order.
Most sites do not say that the item will be shipped on the day of order they quote times of deliver from the date shipped. ( an many people presume that means they get their stuff after x days from ordering.. this is often a fallacy) if you got your item within 4-5 days after it was shipped then they have met their promise .. even if it took them a week to process your order and ship it, provided there was no promise to ship on the date of order.
