new gun

I'm thinking about buying a new airsoft gun. My previous guns were a M16 and a Glock 23f. I really enjoyed the M16 and the glock, I found the long barrel of the m16 made it very accurate. The glock was a two faced gun, lovely kick back. But every once and a while the clip would refuse to load the BB's. The only problem I had with my M16 is the barrel wobble, which I expected. I really liked the look of the AK, but I found on the field the guy who had an TM AK had very poor accuracy and was easily out gunned by my M16. Would the RPK offer a similar look to the AK but more accuracy like the M16? Secondly Would the SRC 3rd gen Ak47 RPK ($530 shootsoft) or the Classic Army RPK-7 ($900 chix softair) be a better gun? The most important characteristics of the gun for me are: Durability and reliability in combat, second: accuracy and range. Also I am looking for suggestions on a very combat reliable gas pistol.

1) Stay away from shootsoft
2) CA is a very good brand, the RPK will have good accuracy, however, a regular AK can definitely reach out and touch someone if you stick a tightbore barrel and good hop up rubber in it.
3) Before buying a gun you should get Age Verified so you know all of your options before you commit. There are many used guns available which can be handy, as well as many retailers who can pretty much get you any gun you want.

SRC ak 47 3rd generation are really good, but stay away from shootsoft.ca though.
SRC ak's 3rd gen has very high quality parts (internal and external). I know for a fact that their metal body are rock solid. The 3rd generation AK's has awesome internal parts too. I mean If I we're to pick an AK right now with decent budget, I'd go with SRC AK's, it beats G&G's AK and ICS AK. SRC Ak metal body are also TM compatible, while the G&G and ICS has their own proprietary metal body parts. If I have more money to spend then hands down, I would go with RS Ak47

Okay staying away from shootsoft. I am getting age verified as we speak, just waiting for my area verifier to log on. Would a upgraded (tight bore and hop up) AK have a chance against the RPK? And how much would these additions cost? The metal Ak's are much cheaper then the RPK model. I was also wondering does RS stand for real steel? Is the most durable airsoft gun the AK variants?

If need be where should I ask to order a SRC rpk?
Are there any airsoft retailers in Canada that either have better prices, service, or warranties then the rest?
On the shoot soft site it says the SRC rpk is "11.1V Li-PO ready!" Is this accurate? and are these batteries worth the extra $$$?

RS is contextual. It can mean Real Steel or Real Sword. Real Sword is a very high end AK airsoft manufacturer.

Upgraded AKs would stand a chance. Choosing a model of gun is more dependent on looks and ergonomics and part quality, rather than performance, since guns can be upgraded to perform how you like.

If your asking if an AK can keep up with an RPK because the barrel is longer, then a simple tightbore can remedy that. Tightbores increase accuracy much more than just adding a few more inches on the end.

kenC from here has his own retailer to the public www.007.airsoft.com. He's the one that brought the cansoft version of all SRC's. Other than that, you have to get age verified here to find the metal bodies and buy em separately. Some people have used and new full metal SRC AK's here in classified and that's also where you buy the restricted parts and some retailers.

anywhere...lol.... Airsoftparts.ca, Ehobby, Uncompany, Redwolfairsoft,.....

And yeah, keep in mind mobility before buying a gun....lol.... you dont want something that is too long and that will get caught on every branches, but not too short too...lol...

RPK is long... buts its a nice support gun....

Ak is nice, its medium length ...

But also... airsoft is airsoft... our ammo is too light, = it gets affected by tons of factors, wind is a major one... your best bet would be to use heavier ammo (.25-.28g bbs are good imo...) Getting a tightbore and good hopup rubber will help, but still....it wont ever be a point and shoot thing... :S

I have played many times with my M16. I will 100% agree there is no point and shoot guns even after upgrades, maybe if it is 700+ fps. Wind = devil. As for length, I did not mind my M16, it was the full length version. One meter long from tip to butt. I did like its support capability, if I hide well and a group of the other team gets too close, they have little chance of survival.

But a tightbore barrel and upgraded hopup rubber are the good ?
If I buy a AK new from a box, what other internal upgrades should I get to improve my guns durability/combat reliability/performance? A full metal AK from Classic army is only 345 with battery, strap, and charger. Is it safe to assume that after $200-300 of upgrades the AK could easily out preform a $900 Classic army RPK-7,and that does not include extras just a gun and 2 mags.

yeah Tightbore barrel and hopup rubber should be good.....

you dont need to tweak with the mechbox, unless you really need to ....

maybe have it checked and shimmed properly will help with smoothness, and durability...:P....

And if you want you could always add a slightly heavier spring for a little higher fps (around 360-380) but have it chronied before buying a new spring...lol.... (since what is written on box isnt really exact...

What type of rubber is best for an AK? The only one i have found that claims anything special is the madbull shark or should I buy a few and try?

all AEGs use the same hop-up system, and barrels, the only difference between various AEGs is the outer shell (d'uh....) and the mechbox design (since the outer shell changes, mechbox space changes.... (d'uh...:P) )

Like CJboi said.... Prometheus rubbers are best.... as for the barrels, Madbull or Prometheus are good.... PDI ones are just too expensive....

Thanks for clearing that up for me Gunny_McSmith, It has been a while. I found what you were talking about now on ehobbyasia. Is the hard or soft version best? I was looking at Real sword AK cjboi recommended, It seems the best yet and the price is not to steep. Can ehobbyasia ship to/in Canada? It says they ship here on their site but then the prices are in USD . And are LI-PO batteries worth while?
