ak 47 old school look

so i just recently got an ak47.

Here is my question, i want to make the wood look old and realistic. Do i use a paint, stain or lacquer.... I also want to give the metal receiver a old and warn down look. How do i go about this.....

never really did this, but what comes to my mind is steel wool..... and if you want it really old, pickle juice will rust the exposed metal.

To artificially make it look used, I agree use a fine steel wool on the high edges to wear some paint (don't go overboard). Same with the wood and rub a bit of dirt into the grain. Keep in mind you want wear where it would naturally occur. I would highly recommend you don't purposely rust your gun.

Just use it a LOT. No better way to get realistic results.

Curly haired girls want straight hair, straight hair girls want curls....

someone who has an old beat up AK would like to have a new one.

Run the gun.. get it dirty, clean it ... it will look fine in time

Well, the number one thing to do to age it is to buy a full metal and wood one.

And use it, a lot. Don't artificially 'age' it because 110% of the time it will look like garbled cow anus.

Seriously, just use the gun and be rough with it, and you'll have an aged 'AK' in no time.
