TM hicapa 5.1 need to pull the trigger twice

Recently did some minor upgrades on my capa:
aip blue trigger
aip extended mag release

from what I've seen a pretty common problem arose; If the trigger is pulled while the hammer is reset (Hold trigger down, rack slide; typical firing), the next trigger pull does nothing. There is slight resistance (not as much as standard pull), but it feels like something is being reset. Next trigger pull after works. It looks like the pin to the right of the hammer (that interfaces with the blow back unit) is having trouble resetting upwards... if i pull it up, it works.

Also slapping the beavertail safety seems to work.

I suspect there is something wrong with how i set up the leaf spring. I didnt bend the leafspring at all until this problem arose. Also I think I'm installing the LS right, middle leg on sear, right leg on trigger piece.

could someone tell me exactly what the two right legs on the LS do exactly? Like what happens when they are bent more or bent less?

thanks

I'd check the leafspring like you said. I know I saw a picture of the correct positions here, perhaps in the big HiCapa/1911/Meu thread.

Otherwise just googling hicapa leaf spring should get you a picture fast, it's a common issue.

ok playing around with it a while I've realized the problem but not sure how to fix it. The trigger disconnect lever isnt sliding in front of the sear well. The first trigger pull just jiggles it into place.

I've set the leaf spring at almost every combination i can think of and no dice.

Right now I'm playing around with the trigger stirrup to try to get the trigger to reset forward as far as possible to give room for the trigger disconnect to rise up in front of the sear.

No idea if i'm going about this the right way...

Don't approach the leaf spring by trial and error, they are easy to kink.

yea i saw a whole bunch of different leaf spring installation pics. And dont worry I didnt do anything drastic and I was very careful not to stress the part.

Anyway I found the root of the problem, I bent the stirrup upon installation of the new trigger, thus leaving not enough room for the trigger reset bar to rise properly in front of the sear. Also the bar itself was rather gummed up and needed re oiling to rise consistently.

If anyone has the same problem I can help them out for sure.
