B6D not charging LiFe battery

I had set it up as per the manual but everytime i go to charge a 1200mAh 20c 9.9v life battery i get a low voltage warning.

the charge is a Multifunction balance Charger B6D (bought it from juggles) it has no issue charging my lipo's or the nimh batteries. just won't charge the Life battery in the life battery mode.

any ideas why this is happening?

What is the power source you are using?

This charger (though it's not on ASP website) is 50W max. That means that at 9.9v, the charger will max at 5A. To work properly, the charger would then need a 70W power source that can maintain at least 50W with a voltage above 11.9v, preferably 13v.

You can get low voltage warning from a too weak PSU or from a too discharged battery.

using ac adapter model:xhy-289, input 100-240v 50-60hz, output 12v 5a.

weird my lipo's charge fine and they are 1400mah 20c 11.1v. just this life one won't so my guess is that the battery was over discharged. any why to get them to work

If it's a cylindrical type, yes. If a flat type like a LiPo, maybe.

You can set it to LiIon and give it a 2-3 minutes boost, then set it to LiFe as normal. The cylinder-type have internal protection board. The flat type does not. One of the reason LiFe are "safer" is that board.

Do at your own risk, but if it was over discharged, that might revive it.

That didn't work same issue low voltage.

Did you try to plug it to a PC to get more information? If I remember well your charger has a USB port for data log. That might help to know what happened.

i would but i don't have a USB cable for it and it didn't come with one.

It's a plain Mini-USB standard cable. 80% of all digital stuff use it. That might give you some insight to see what happens.

Maybe your pack is shot and there is a protection board in it... cutting the power as soon as you plug it.

i attached my lipo voltage reader to the LIFE battery got no readings at all

It's LiFe. It won't burst in flame. Worst it can do (a healthy pack fully charged) is a puff of smoke.

Still, your pack is dead. Around here I have to pay 15$ to dispose of Lithium batteries, but you can drop it at any store that takes old cellphones.

Anyone know where I can get a replacement AC adapter for the B6D charger, mine blew today while I was charging, made a fizzle pop noise and then no power, and it was really hot.

Any AC/DC wall wart adapter that outputs 12V DC @ 5amps will suffice as long as it has the same connector which you could simply replace with one that fits.

Actually, the charger will take anything from 11-18 volts but I'm not 100% on the amperage variance.

You would need a 90W laptop powersupply that can do 15v. That gives you 5A and just the right voltage to let the charger work OK.

You can also buy one online or at you hobbyshop, or modify an ATX 450W PSU and use it.
