tighbore barrel vs actual 6mm bbs

Im looking at purchasing my next gun new... and instead of getting another tight bore barrel Ive been thinking about gaming with guarder BBs instead because it seems that they are actually 6mm in size as appose to the 5.95mm that everything else seems to be...

Ive been told that guarder BBs can have trouble in a tightbore for this reason... like guarder makes them 6mm to make up for not using a tightbore

thoughts?

i think its wayyyy better to get a high quality tightbore and use BBs that are smaller, but are also high quality and consistent. IE) promy TBB and BBbastards

most BBs may say they have +-.01 mm difference but its actually closer to .03 or .05 in some cases. so with BBs that can be off by that much you are going to get a lot of variation in shots.

But i personally have no experience with guarder BBs so im not sure on the consistency of them

It certainly a good way to get a tighter , but I doubt that the stock barrel has the same quality of an aftermarket barrel.

Look down your stock barrel and see the bore finish. My prom and madbull is so smooth compared to my stock brass barrel which you can see ripples on the entire length.

Guarder BB's are actually closer to 5.98mm than they are 6.00mm.

it's a viable way to get around needing a tightbore, but the purpose of a tightbore is to have an accurate and consistent barrel, not just a tighter one. So if you have a really high quality 6.08mm barrel, then guarder BB's will help for sure

Hmm... I have a custom made 5.98mm uber tightbore here, as well as a 6.00mm.... HMMMMM.......

I thought the trend recently was to get larger diameter barrels (I think 6.03 was "decided" to be ideal), concentrating only on diameter now, not finish, eccentricity or consistency although this may be because the increased difficulty in milling smaller diameter barrels...

your stock barrel is around 6.08mm

A 6.03mm is ideal and less chance of jamming. I had some jams on a 6.01mm on 363mm barrel lengths.

If you run short barrels then a 6.01mm would probably work well. Pistols really perform on 6.01mm barrels.

Imagine a jam on full auto...

I run a Guarder 6.02 and compared to a stock TM 6.08 I've noticed a difference in effective range/accuracy (that said, I also did upgrade the spring while I was in the gearbox as well). It's not a pronounced difference but I like it for what I paid for all the upgrades. If I had the chance though I'd probably have tossed in a Prommy or EdGI in there.

I also run .28 Matrix BB's in my gun (can anyone confirm that these are Airsoft Elite rebrands?).

A 6.02mm / 6.03mm quality barrel will tighten up your groupings and thus increase your long range shots on a human size target.

having a 6.03 won't necessarily increase your accuracy, it's the consistency of the bore, and compression behind the BB that increase accuracy by stabilizing the BB.
Case and point, stock GBBR's with 6.08 barrels are usually REALLY accurate. And I've seen some really shit quality 6.04mm barrels first hand, they actually reduced accuracy from the stock barrel.

If you have an inconsistent bore, it slows the air around the BB at random, and inhibits laminar flow behind the BB. Having a perfectly smooth barrel allows for laminar flow of air, and ideal compression around the BB to help it stay centered in the barrel.

I have a 6.00 installed in my bolt action right now, and she's knocking over loonies at 100feet consistently. Then again, there's also a pile of other upgrades in there - the most noticeable benefit of the ultra tight bore was a huge power increase.
