1. Don't hook your battery up to 300V unless you want to see it melt.
2. Yes, it was a good purchase. 3. Buy a good charger. I recommend the iMax B6AC, it's probably the last one you'll ever need. A lot of people have came to me saying their batteries were messed up and it was just their charger that was the problem. 4. Buy gear, starting with good eyewear and footwear. If you fog constantly, you'll hate airsoft. If you go blind, you'll hate airsoft. If you break an ankle in skate shoes, you'll hate airsoft. 5. Move away from hicaps as soon as you can. 5-10 low or midcaps will serve you well. Last edited by Wrath144; December 6th, 2012 at 00:26.. |

Again: Don't hook your battery up to 300V unless you want to see it melt. If you do, and we find out, you will become the laughing stock of the Canadian Airsoft internet community. And guess what, you'll hate airsoft.

Can't fix my own guns. Willing to fix yours.

If you fill out your profile location, players can help direct you to local airsoft events and or stores,
But in relation to your actual post, the value you got is not bad, but I would suggest buying some "mid cap" mags, they are often offered in a 5 or 10 pack of 90-150 round mags as an easy way to buy a bunch of them and you should never have to guess when your battery is charged, buy a smart charger, the low end one from airsoftparts.ca does the job and only cost $25, it will charge faster, better, and keep your batteries alive *edit* dammit seems I type too slow |

Thank you Thank you .. Yea I'm kind of against the hi-caps too.. sadly they didnt have any box of 5 for sale at the moment probably should just exchange it . probably fill one up and put a little less in the other get the reloading action . So with your smart chargers give or take how long they usually take , i've been told "if your battery dies you have a smart charger it could take about a hour and you can go play again "

Overall good buy, but I fail to see how you could have spent $250 on that (unless you're not including taxes). Usually that package would retail for ~$275 before taxes (unless you got the mag and battery tossed in as freebies or whatever).
Also definitely not a good idea to hook up to 300V.... It's likely going to explode in your face in a miraculous fashion, burn your house down, and kill all your loved ones. This is one of the best kept secrets in batteries and stuff but buy this: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=6478 and some 7.4V lipo batteries and you're set. They're actually pretty good quality AND cheap as hell too (in fact I bought 4 batteries (~$30) and some other stuff for a little under $75 shipped to my door + ~$7 duties/taxes). As for charge time, it depends on how much current you're trying to push to the battery. If you've got a 1000 mAh battery and pushing 100 mAh through it, it'll take 10 hours, if you've got a 1000 mAh battery and pushing 4 Amperes through it, it'll only take 15 minutes. Ideally charge at "1C" which in the case for a 1000 mAh battery is 1 Amp (basically charge at the same rate as the capacity of the battery and it will take ~1 hr). Now that said, I charge my batteries at 1.5-2C.

It is the nylon body version of the KA M4A1, not the full metal version.

is it the nylon body is there THAT much of a difference between metal and plastic ?

I see... I missed that in the original post.
Anyways, as to the metal vs plastic. Metal is nicer but plastic is good enough IMO unless you're really rough with your stuff. Plus your first gun isn't your last. If you decide you want something metal then after a season or two sell your current gun to another newbie getting into the sport and and buy something new. It's not like a plastic gun is going to spontaneously catch fire and explode (that is unless you get an electrical short, but that will still happen to a metal gun if there's bare wires or whatever).

You can get the metal one for a tad more.. about $260
Seems like you should have proper eyepro already since you're crossing from paintball, instant savings there! At this time of year you'll probably be running indoor games and with 2 hi-caps you should be good to go there as well. Hope to see ya in the field
