gun wont fire

just a question regarding gun not firing. today playing around in the back yard I was tweaking out the hop up and went from shooting in semi to auto. I shot off roughly 10-15 shots in semi then wound up the mag and unloaded in auto. i tried to rewind the mag up and shoot again in auto. This time the gun wouldnt fire literally you would pull the trigger and nothing. At first i thought it would be a BB jam but when i ran the rod through nothing came out. I even removed the barrel from the gun and ran the rod through to make sure that there were no BB left set it back up and tried to fire in auto and nothing. This was in semi mode.

I flipped the gun upside down and then turned the gun to auto and it dry fired a few times with no clip. then I loaded the clip again and was able to fire of rounds. This has happened to me a couple of different times now. Is there a particular reason that this is happening??

In the backyard shooting at the pond and cardboard boxes is no big deal but during a round of CQB or field this would make for one unreliable piece of equipment.

Suggestions??

Did try just flipping the selector switch to auto safe semi and try firing when the issue arised? What brand and modle of gun is it? This happens more often on some types of guns. What kind of batery are u using? It could be alot of lil things selector switch trigger contacts wiring maybe evnn tappet plate. The type of gun will help folks diagnose wht the issue may be.

Thanks for the quick response Hectic. My bad on posting up some specs and leaving it so ambiguous. Let me answer these chronologically.

1) The gun was first in safe then i switched to semi to shoot of roughly 15 shots. Then I would the clip again and went from semi to auto and blasted off 30 shots (or whatever it takes to reload the mag). When I went to wind the mag up again is when the gun seized.

2) I have a VFC m4es quake

3) battery is a 7.4v 1100 may 15c lipo

Thanks in advance

What i was asking was after it stopped firing did u try flipping the selector switch around to see if it would fire in a deferent mode.
Also whts the fps on the gun? Have u been firing it out in the cold alot?
I think the lipoy be the cause of the issue tho. The trigger contacts could be burnt up a bit causing it to not fire.
When u took out the barrel did u inspect the cront area of the gearbox for cracks?
Do you know how to remove the gearbox? Its not that hard remove the plate at the end of the grip drop out the motor remove the two screws in the top of the grip
Remove all the pins in the body the gearbox will lift right out of the reciver from there you will be able to see the trigger contacts and check for black/burning on there thatll be the easy thing to check.
Unless u have a mofset in there then the burning shouldnt be the problem.

As far as i know tho even with the low voltage lipo you should run a mofset cause tho the voltage is low the discharge current is still high enough to cause the burning issue. A baisic mofset is prety cheap.

Sounds like a magazine problem, are the BB's pushed all the way to the top or jamming just below the catch? I had this problem once and then another time my anti-reversal spring in the magazine stopped catching so it would just unwind.

you know its funny yesterday i took the gun back to the store and we made some mods:

- changed the piston and and piston head
- down graded the spring to m100

when the box was opened up everything looked good. no cracks or anything strange. from what i saw the trigger contacts looked ok too.

I live in vancouver and the temp here has been roughly 1-6 Celsius so i guess you could say its been on the cold side. I am going to head outside now and blast off couple hundred rounds to see if it happens again.

the gun right now is shoot about 330. and no i did not try to switch fire modes when it got stuck but i will again if it happens. will post again after i blast off some rounds

i think it could be the mag. the couple times it happened there were 3-4 bb that fell out when i pulled out the mag when the gun got stuck.

ok just went and put 3 rounds or so through with no jams or seizing. That said I think that it actually might be a mag issue. One thing that i did notice is that there were a few times in auto that i could see 3-4 balls bursting out at once. it would be like there were three bb in the barrel if that makes sense.

I thought u said it just went click and nothin happen when u pulled the trigger that isnt a mag issue. A mag issue would be gun is firing but no bbs are commin out. Not sure about the dbl/tripple feeding that could be a hop up or nozzle issue prolly not a mag issue tho.
"This time the gun wouldnt fire literally you would pull the trigger and nothing.*"
Is what u said u mean nothing no bb or nothing no cycling at all?
And with a high cap mag if u wind it up till it fells stiff you should prolly be a le to fird 3/4 of the bbs out then rewind it to finnish em off. It should firs alot mors then 20 30 rounds befor winding.

The times when the gun seized you literally couldn't even pull the trigger. It was jammed.

Man, I feel like a jackass. Here I go, telling you that you've bought a great gun, and the next day you've got problems with it. Figures. I know with some AEGs there can be issues with firing in different modes, especially semi auro, but usually I only see that in SAWs with a semi auto option. I wish I could help man, but I'm more of a gas gun guy.

My VFCs tend to do that when I short pull the trigger, easily fixed with a switch to auto and a quick burst.

AFAIK all guns will do that. My G&P does that too.

Flip the selector back and forth and pull the trigger. That should do the trick. Usually when I'm tapping semi fire really fast it will seize up like you mention. I just flip to full auto, do a quick burst and it's back to normal when I'm back in semi.

I'm thinking it has to do with the gun not fully cycling before you cut off the power to it resulting in it not "resetting" so that you can pull the trigger again.

As for the 4 BB's falling out, that's normal basically the follower on your mag can't push up any further than the maglip which is lower than where the hop up sits. The only way to prevent that is to flip your rifle upside down and pull the trigger or do the "o-ring mod" which you need to cut at your hop up unit and install an o-ring to retain BB's (if you look at the Madbull "Ultimate HopUp" it has the O-ring BB retention system).

Still with the madbull 1 or 2 bbs will drop out and the 2 or 3 that are retainded in the bottom of the hop up wont feed with the gun upright
