Nice review. You missed out on a critical flaw.. the AOR2 features an annoying button fly while the MC has a normal zipper.
The fixed straps that you mentioned are actually adjustable to position the knee pads. There is a hidden plastic buckle that the strap loops through in your main pockets. They aren't fixed.

Oh they aren't? I couldn't see any buckle, will have to investigate later

what is the sizing like? im finding charts in CM and im wondering if the small is actually a 34R or if its smaller/larger.

I've got a small in the AOR1's (same cut, G2) and a small fits me (I wear a 31 waist, and the pants sag on me a bit with no belt). Length appears to be a regular cut, I wear a 30" inseam and they're almost spot on, a little long by like an inch.
