Paintball player looking to get into airsoft

Hey guys so airsoft has caught my attention and it's something I'd like to give a try. I'd like to maybe buy a used gun for my first. Where should I look for used gear in Toronto? How would I get age verified in north york, Ontario? I'd like to check out this sites classifieds.

Mik

There is a section in the forums about where to get age verified. Once you meet the verifier, it takes two weeks plus for it to go through on average. Once your verification goes through you'll have access to all the age restricted forums, and the classifieds.

Remember; when you get age verified it must be in person, with a government issued photo ID. No exceptions.

Welcome, you'll enjoy airsoft.

im sure youll like airsoft, perhaps even beter then paintball beter range cooler guns and in my experiance better people for the most part, we get alot of converts who are sic of the bs and lil kids that come with paintball.
ammo is cheap guns are now reasonably priced you picked a good time to decide to cross over to the dark side lol.
check some torontoairsoft retailers (see what i did there) alot of the guns in the classifieds wont really save you much money as most of the guns being sold there wer bought befor the big price drops. You may pay about the same price you would for a new gun and maybe get a few extra mags if yer lucky but youll prolly get somethin thats was used for a season or two.
im not knocking the classified when yer lookin for somethin special you cant find like an older modle or whatnot but as far as buyin an entry level gun youll do better buying new, plus i think the retailer has some age verifiers working at the store so you can kill two birds with one bb.
(dont shoot birds with bbs im just bein silly)
anyhow welcome to the wonderfull world of airsoft and welcome to ASC.
hope to see you on the field soon.

Sell your gear first if youd like , keep the mask if you want .. I say buy your own gun dont have to worry about someone else's problem but its your choice you can find some descent brand new AEGs

I think it would be smarter for a newbie to buy a new airsoft gun as opposed to a used one. I've run into a lot of problems with used guns, and now I only buy new so I don't have to deal with them.

I say keep your pb gear. Unless all your pb friends is going to abandon pb, you may still want to play with them in the future.

Just add airsoft to it.

+1

I'm finding most paintball action indoors is all around Toronto. So.. Paintball wins for cqb. Airsoft looks like the winner outdoors (plus scopes actually have a purpose in airsoft)... For me at least.

I am new to the sport and I HIGHLY suggest going out and playing first. There is a new indoor field called Ultimate Airsoft they offer rentals. For the day you will pay around $60 and will acquire a TON of information.

I have made mistakes and paid WAY too much for medium quality guns. Put your wallet away for now and come into the sport with wide eyes and open ears. Everyone I have met is EXTREMELY helpful! They all have learned their fair share about airsoft and are always happy to share their findings.

GET OUT AND PLAY

It is really fun and even better when you get your fellow paintballer friends into it to!

Hope to see you out there sometime!!
Welcome!

Thanks for all the responses guys gives me a great feeling about the canadian airsoft community. First off ill do some more research into getting verified just sucks because I probably won't be showing up to any events without my own gear and to get gear I need to get verified. Guess im buying new! Second off I was planning on going to ultimate airsoft to give it a try before buying gear. Indoor will probably not be as fun as outdoor, but it's all I can do for now. Third I was never planning on selling my paintball gear. Im still planning on using it. For my gun I was planning on getting the G&P magpul m4 its on sale and seems to have good reviews what you guys think?

Indoor is where you learn the basics of airsoft, you can just wear jeans, hoodie and sport a gun with a hicap. Outdoor generally is where you should have a more advanced setup since accuracy and what you have in your loadout actually matters.

Since you're a beginner, it'd be best to stick to G&P, KWA or VFC AEGs as a first gun, so your choice is fine. They're already on the higher end of guns and don't need immediate work on internals to have them running reliably. However as for a model, you should go to a walk in store, look around and hold some of the guns because you will probably end up changing your mind.

As for getting a hold of gear, you don't need to be age verified to get it. The benefit of being age verified is that you can access the classifieds on guns and gun parts, you already have access to the gear and clothing classifieds.

I've played paintball CQB .....no thanks; airsoft CQB is still faster, more tactical, and more extreme. In fact the two aren't even close, like comparing hockey with baseball.
