Concerning the King Arms 556 (Shorty)

Hey all,

I've recently been on the fence about getting an M1 Garand with a good friend of mine, since the rifle is too long for me to game properly I find. The shorter the rifle, the easier it is for me to operate with, so I've been eyeing up another rifle. The King Arms 556 Shorty Rifle, but I have a few questions before I make the jump through the hole in my wallet. I've asked about the ICS L85A2 before, but it is quite heavy to game with. Not ideal for a runner.

Is there anything I should do to make it game ready? Is there anything I should upgrade out of the box to make it as reliable as possible? I've heard it was a pain to take apart, so it's why I ask. I plan to throw in a Prommy Barrel and a Systema bucking, with new deans connections, shooting with a m110 spring.

M1 garand aeg... no ping, no care. No top loading stripper clip, it's a bottom fed magazine. And I believe it's wood stock as well which makes it reasonably heavy.

I don't have experience with the sig 556, but anything that uses a stanag mag (m16 mag) is really cheap to operate... mags are very easy to find and well priced. It's a v2 gearbox which makes parts easy to find.

If it were me buying a new rifle, I would chrono it out of the box to start, then depending on if I needed to swap springs, I would also check the shimming and aoe/sorbo and quality of the air seal since the gearbox is open. The most basic things would be spring swap and shimming.

And of course, rewire to deans because all my batteries are deans.
