yowza that's some nice piston death there. I think that's may just be the nature of the dsg beast... they go through pistons and springs more than anything from what I've read. They're not a build it and forget it platform. If you're stripping teeth, I would recommend a full metal rack epoxied in. SHS or ZCI would be my recommendation.

You've got some massive PE going on though with 14:1 dsg.. you've effectively got a 7:1 ratio for a single shot. That's ridiculously fast. You probably need to polish the guiderails a lot more and find even more ways of lightening that piston assembly.

I had a VFC Hk416 that shot 25rps. It was all stock but the motor/piston. And people called that a BB hose.

I guess if your skirming it could be entertaining, until you have to reload :/

I can understand his need for RPS, its fun!

With the P* I can shoot anywhere between 6 RPS to upwards of 80 RPS. (The highest I have gotten is a little over 60 with MAG brand mid caps)
I usually leave it setup for 30~40 RPS on a 3 round burst. This gives me a SUPER crisp and instant trigger response (especially since I can set it up to shoot closed bolt). Most people saw how fast I could shoot on semi at Nightfall 2, a lot faster then some of the SAWs were shooting auto :P

If I can get that 3 round burst down range before another guy even have one BB out, im at the advantage.

It can probably be closely replicated, at the max RPS I have ever gotten with it BBs were hitting each other in mid air.

you need to lighten the pistons WAY more than that. my ~20rps pistons are swissed more than those.

did you remove the PH bearing? which head are you using? every gram removed is life or death in a DSG (well, as much as can be expected in a DSG)

If you cant do it safely with a nylon piston, the full metal piston is just going to wreck something else, like your gearset, especially if you already know you have an early engagement problem.

The strongest piston on the market is the system supercore, slightly above the prometheus hard piston. But you don't want the strongest piston on the market because they're heavy, and meant for 600fps, not 30rps.
You want an extremely lightweight nylon piston, short stroked, with enough metal teeth to still have 2 teeth before release.
Even heavyweight durable pistons can handle 25rps, 30 maybe with heavy modding, 50 is just plain stupid. Why even bother?
At 50rps, you're pretty well guaranteed to wreck your piston every game, and a gun that doesn't work isn't worth anything at all.
If all you care about is ROF, then just get a polarstar already. It's far more reliable than an AEG could EVER BE at high ROF.

metal pistons are the worst. soft and brittle (wat.) and stupidly heavy.

AFAIK, supercores are POM, more or less the same as Lonex reds. plus with the Lonex, you don't have to move the rack backwards for DSGs.
Prommy hards are kinda brittle, but pretty darn strong.

both are really expensive.

SHS 15t are glass-filled nylon fiber with steel racks. it's just about the best material available (right now) for AEG pistons.
seriously, a lightened 15t with epoxy or CA glue will last WAAAAAY longer and you can just buy like 4 of them. I don't see why people would want to talk you out of a DSG that's already been built, it's too late for that. =D

get the 15t, lighten the sh*t out of it (like REALLY REALLY light. the 15t is lighter than the red, but you still have to take out WAAAY more than you did on the red)

Can't stress the polarstar system enough.

$~150-300 for the air rig.
$60-??? for tanks (I got 2 62Cu 3K PSI for $110-ish shipped on Ebay, lasts +2K rounds)
Although some people call it silly, I got a Benjamin hand pump, so I can refill my own tanks at my leisure.
Takes ~3 hours (lots of down time due to heat) but I love it, fairly easy and fun.
Ran me about $200 shipped? Somewhere in that area.

And of course the system it's self.

As TC said above, the reliability is stupid awesome. You can jack the RPS up until your mags fail to feed, without much at all to worry about, jamming if anything.
