C-TAC CT36k spring help.

Hey all,

I have just recently gotten into airsoft and have bought the CT36K. Although it shoots very accurately, has never jammed/misfed, (only about 1k BBs through it) and feels extremely solid, I cant use it!!!!

Local field's limit is 400fps and sure enough, shot after shot registers 406-415fps.
It stated that it shoots 410fps when I bought it, but I really didn't know if that was hype, on a good day, cherry picked gun or what. I got what I paid for, 410 all day long.

My one complaint is nowhere in the manual or on the C-TAC site does it state what rated spring is in it. Does anyone know for certain?

I have heard I can clip off a small piece of my current spring to lower fps because I am close to 400. Anyone know if this is harmful or not to the mechanism? and/or what spring I should buy?

Thanks in advance.

If the Ctac is like any rifle, you have a standard V3 gearbox. You can either open it and replace the spring, or have someone who knows what they're doing open it and replace the spring.

Cutting a few coils and reflattening the end of the spring can work, too. If the end is treated properly, you will not damage anything. I would personally just change it, because it is not the most expensive part, and it is less hassle.

I'd use this spring personally. It may be lower than 400fps, but you'll be safe.

And as I said before, if you're not trusting yourself in opening the gearbox, bring to someone competent.

Maybe a m120 spring most likely for the fps you are getting. My advice either have a tech cut one or two coils off the spring or downgrade your spring a m110 should get you just below 400 fps or close to it. And yea the CTAC manual sucks I have the M16A3 buy them great gun  but the manual is totally useless.

I have no problem doing the work myself, I was trying to get an idea of what spring I should use. Thanks for the link to that spring, it's what I will most likely buy.

Yeah the manual is a joke, and the websites only help is to let you download/view the manual? Silly. :banghead:

more than likely a 120 spring with a bit of an air leak.

If you open it up and it has a bearing plate on the spring guide and a bearing inside the piston... you can remove the bearing and the 2 plates on the piston side and it will most likely drop under 400 fps without needing a new spring.

If you have no bearing on the spring guide, you can't do this and you need a 110 spring.

edit: I really doubt you have 2 bearings though... since the ctac is more likely a marked up CYMA or JG g36.
