Slow Cycle issue, Motor or Battery?

After all my upgrades and fighting with Low FPS(My noobish mistake)
My cycle time is Slow.

Im using a 9.6 1600 Batt and Im still running the Stock motor on a M120 spring.

Whats your thoughts? Buy a motor? or Start a lipo collection and sell off my 6 9.6 batts and smart charger(don't really want too do this)

Let me know please.

NiMH have a hard time running higher fps springs, that's why all the different levels of torque gearsets exist

although a tienly or lonex motor may help quite a bit, it's questionable whether you'd have the wattage to really make it work. Otherwise you're looking at a new gearset.
Best option would be to switch to 7.4v lipo's, they're only ~$9 a battery. Find someone with a 7.4 and try it out first though, you may need a new motor to compliment them.

So
try someone's 7.4
buy new motor and try with 9.6
try someone's 7.4 with the new motor
probably end up buying 7.4s

Try it with an 8.4v large or 9.6v large. You'll probably get a lot faster ROF.

Thanks for the advice.
What charger should I be looking for?
Also, As far as Batteries go, I should only look for 30C and up?

Imax B6, Check
7.4-3800 25C Lipo Check.

Ever here of SHS 100-200 gears? I found a set in my box of goodies.
Are they worth a shot?

Are you sure the gears are shimmed properly ? Check that they are moving freely with the shell screwed together. Also make sure your pinion and bevel gear are meshing properly.

Can you explain too me how a bad shim job would cause a slow cycle time?

IF it was shimmed to tight?

Too many shims will cause friction on the gear causing binding. even if the gears can still move the motor will need to exert more force to turn which will slow cycle time

open the mechbox, take the piston/spring/spring guide and anti reversal latch out, close the mechbox with all the screws in, and spin the gears by hand, they should spin freely but not wobble side to side if shimmed properly

You either have resistance in the mechbox, shimmed too tight, motor junk, battery too weak, or all of the above and too heavy of spring!

I suggested before in your other thread and I see others doing it, you have to test the movement of your mechbox internals, piston back and forth, gear rotation, ect with the screws in and pressure on the mechbox. You cannot just hold it closed with your hand.

Make sure everything has smooth movement, quality greased internals, your set up is correct, and you have a good battery.

oh just thought of something else, make sure you have proper size wires and no resistance, IE too many connections, jumpers, bad solder joints, ect.

Brand new Firefox 9.6 1600 is shit.
My Older 8.4 1500 Works perfect.

So I saved some cash on Buying a bunch more stuff.
So suggest me a battery please.

I would like a 9.6.
Would a 9.6 3300 Be a good choice? M16 Stock
