Quick answer for 'another' importing question.
Ok, please don't get all pissed off and start telling me to go look at faqs and all that other BS. I've searched the shit out of this site and the only thing I could come up with was an arguement about whether or not importing mags was ok.
I know that you can't import guns from overseas, and I also know that certain parts are ok (springs, internals and such). But what about parts that are easily recognizable as parts of guns, like slides and mags (especially slides). I just need a quick answer or at least a few opinions. Also, I could do without any "it's your money, you decide" or "support your local retailer" posts as I would love to do the latter, but my 'local retailer' wants more than twice what it would cost from overseas. Thank you

Your local retailer has a right. Dont forget that theres shipping, and custom fees plus a bunch of others i think, that stack up alot. You probably wont get it much cheaper in the long run if oyu order it yourself form overseas.

Slides I wouldn't risk it. Mags are alright if they aren't the clear ones that have dummy rounds in them (i.e. TM G36 or Sig AEG mags.)

But generally, if CanadaPost handles a package that needs to go through customs, you pay Sales Tax + $5 Customs fees. UPS - ripoff will charge you like brokerage + sales taxes. FedEx - Don't know, never been taxed by them. |

Quick answer; buy from Canadian Retailers.
If that's not in the FAQ's and posted almost everywhere, then you read nothing. |

Last time I thought about buying mags across the boarder...I figured out the currency exchange and shipping fees...its pretty much the same you save more or less 10 bucks on a box of star mags...but there's no point...

I only got one useful post out of all of them, and thank you grim.
Greylocks, I was looking for an alternative to paying $185 for a slide. A simple answer would have worked and by all means go right ahead and try to find it yourself. I have looked and as I said the closest thing I found regarding parts was an arguement about mags. Lithium, I know they have a right and all and I do support them. I bought my gun from one. But as I said I'm just looking for an alternative to paying more than two thirds the cost of my gun for a slide. Anyways, from the responses and the general idea of importing and what not I think I'll just shell out the dough anyways. Thanks to those of you who tried.

I gave you an alternative, the only one that is guaranteed to work. Too bad you dont like it.
Special parts cost money, borders are a gamble. Do what you want. And dont tell me none of this is in the Information section of these forums. What you and many others dont seem to understand is that when folks like me tell you to buy in Canada, we're trying to save you money and grief. |

I don't post too much nowadays but I thought I might help u risk losing some money. There are strict laws against automatic weapon magazines (or there were anyway until not to long ago) and anything that looks like one might piss of a customs agent. My uncle has an empty M16 mag which is technically "illegal".
I wouldn't try, even if it sounds like you're ordering one for a GBB. I don't think they'd let the slide slide (master of pun :smack: ) since it looks too real. I know the temptation man...for anything airsoft from the US. You'll eventually give up and realize you're stuck with these prices. |
