G&P Aimpoint replica

I just got this red dot scope last Saturday from the head honcho Miles himself of ASC Armoury along with a nice cantilever rail mount. The scope was $65 and the cantilever was $25. Bear with me, I have yet to buy an actual digital camera...

As you can see, the scope looks very sexy on the cantilever mount.

The paint job is very nice, finished in a matte black with absolutely no shiny bits. I kind of freaked out when I saw a few scratches on it, but a few rubs with my thumb eliminated said marks and it's spiffy clean. The paint can take quite a bit of abuse, although I haven't really field tested the crap out of it yet.

The scope has 7 brightness settings, which range from barely noticable to so bright that there is inner lens glare. Didn't know that was possible...

The windage and elevation screw caps are fixed onto the scope with a rubber connector, which means I won't be losing them anytime soon.

The front lens have a really nice ruby-blue tint to them, although you can't see crap with these POS pictures. The lens covers are made out of rubber, and with a bit of force, you can squeeze them off and rotate them anyway you like. I turned mine to open upwards, which looks better and doesn't get in the way of my rail.

All in all, for the price, I am very satisfied with the Aimpoint replica. I'm not such a purist that I would be turned off by the lack of trades, but hey, that's what a printer, exacto knife and white paint is for. This scope is perfect for quick target aquisition and since there's no magnification, I can pretty much point and shoot as fast as I want.

Now, if I could somehow find a rail mount that would allow me to fix a tac light offset to the right of the gun, then I'd be happy.

Something like THAT.

Business end.

Love my G&P Aimpoint as well, all the features you need. Its been used quite a bit, and the original battery is still running. I also added a custom extension to mine, looks even better.

Ahhh, unique review.

The G&P Aimpoint also has laser engraved trademarks no? I didn't notice them in the photos actually ...

I must agree the G&P aimpoint is one hell of a deal. Works and looks great, but sadly lacks the Aimpoint Comp ML2 trademarks, but it makes up for that in the outstanding all metal construction.

Taka, I think I may have found a light mount similar to what you want.

WGC is sold out but you may be able to get it elsewhere.

That's really neat actually, would love to see one of those in action.

Um, the point of the cantilever mount is to get the scope further FORWARD on your rail. Red dots are meant to be placed at the front of your gun, not the rear. Compare your field of view in the two positions and you'll understand.

Good review otherwise, was contemplating getting one of these off eHobby and I think this sealed it!

even with it all the way back in this position (i'm not even going to mention turning the mount backwards) my face is still about 6 inches away from the scope so it all works out.

Gryphon, i moved it all the way forward, and yeah, the FOV is a lot nicer but for now i'll leave it at the rear and try it out on the field. thanks for the heads up tho.

You do not need to put your eye on the scope... It is not telescopic... Or is it? That sight is for you to not have to crane your neck forward to see your target. Think of it as a lazer sight but the dot is on your rifle and not the target.

yeah i've moved the scope up forward so it's just a bit in front of the overall front of the rail. did a little trial and you're right HAVOC, it IS like a laser dot on the scope. makes for super quick targeting!

I was going to write a review on it, but since my Gr16 doesn't work anymore there wasn't much point.

Most solid piece of equipment on my gun, that's for sure.

Hello, sorry for dragging up an old thread but im thinking of buying the "G&P Aimpoint Replica" fir my M4A1 and im just wondering will the front sight be in the way of the red-dot sight with an L-shaped mount or even with the red-dot mounted straight onto the 20mm rail.
Thanks,
Keith.
