A funny thing happened the other day...
I was breaking down my Sig552 the other day becase I noticed a small rattling sound coming from somewhere in the upper receiver. I have had a new spring installed into the mech box a while ago and put well over 6000 rounds trough it since the upgrade. When I was in the middle of taking the barrel out (to upgrade to a tightbore) a small black screw fell out the front end of the barrel!! Once it fell out, the rattling sound stopped.
I replaced the barrel as planned and buttoned her back up. She runs as well as ever, solid as a rock... but I've only put roughly 700 rounds or so through it since then. Do you think it could cause any harm later down the line? and what the hell was that screw for/ part of??? Thanks

mechbox screw?, hopup housing/ barrel housing screw? i wouldnt worry about it either way, if nothing blew up in the first 10 rounds, its obviously not an important piece.

AEG fecal matter?
If it was a long black screw, I'm assuming it's from the hop-up. |

That's a pretty vague question. It's like asking "a bolt fell out of my car. What's it for?" lol

That's a fair retort. Yes it was a black screw, shallow threads and about 1/4" length.
Since my post last night I was able to run another 500 or so rounds through it and it doesn't make any strange sounds. However it does seem to cycle faster than before, the spring I installed was a moderate strength increase to raise the fps to the 325-330 range. I was under the assumption that a stiffer spring meant a slower ROF. I haven't switched batteries, and am comparing the cycle rates from the same fully charged battery. This is my first AEG so I don't have experience in pre and post effects from a spring upgrade. Should I be worried about it/ Take it all apart again/ Relish in my upgraded electric drill sound effects?
