Aimpoint dot issue
seems like all my gear is fucking up at once these days.
This time its my aimpoint. my rifle fell over, onto soft mud mind you, and the rifles fine, but the aimpoint is not. the dial that turns it on/off/changes intensity is a lot looser now, and no longer turns the red dot on. BUT, if i put it to an ON position, and press the dial in, the dot shows up. Ive tried finding ways to take the damn thing apart to get at the internals, but i cant get past the spring in the battery compartment. Any ideas on fixing this thing? |

My RDS had the same problem. If it's the same thing internally, the little spacer that keeps the knob in place has broken/shattered and now the knob is basically loose so the switch has no tension and the connection is really questionable at best. I can't think of a better way to explain it. The upside is that if this is your problem, the issue is physical (not electrical) so you can fix it with a sheet of something hard and a Dremel. The downside as you probably can tell is getting into the thing to fix it without ruining your whole RDS (like I did- tore the wiring out :S)

Yah, thats the problem alright. nice explanation. so the million dollar question is, what needs to be dremmeled and how do i get this sheet in? The lazy-mans fix is to put a rubber band on the thing and let that hold the tension. but id rather not!
