C8 Sights
Hey guys, I am near completion on a C8 carbine project. However, as much as I enjoy the looks of the ELCAN scope, somehow a 4x magnification sight for airsoft is somewhat... unnecessary. I was interested in whether you guys know of any iron sights that the CF use on C8's apart from this scope. Do they just use a carry handle such as those on the M4? Or something else. Thanks.
EDIT: Now I see there are carry handles. Are there any out there that are replicas of the carry handles used by the CF? Or are they essentially the same as any standard carry handle.

I've seen carry handles, Diemaco backup sights as well. If you want a non-magnifying optic though, the Eotech 512/552 seems to be popular.

The C8 handle was originally integrated into the body like the original C7/Colts had. Newer C8's have a flat top and heavier barrels. If you get a double height carrying handle (about twice the height of an M4 handle) it should look about right.

The Classic Army Elcan replica is a 3.4x sight. I have one mounted on my CA M15A4 rifle, and I don't find it to be too much at all. I've had the sight on my TM M4A1 as well, and IMO, it worked out great. I'm sort of torn here between sticking with the iron sights (I kind of like iron sights) on the M4 and using the Elcan on the rifle, which is more than likely going to be my main gun for outdoor gaming, in which which range is more important. But in the end, I think I'm going to end up with an Elcan sight for both guns, and will swap the sight / handle on the M4 as needed. I just really like the look of the Elcan sight.
Now, anything more than 4x magnification I could see as a bit of waste on an airsoft carbine or assault rifle. On a sniper rifle, I can see it being useful, but not on an assault rifle or carbine.

Our new C8A2s come with EoTechs, least in my battalion.

Hmmm... I've seen some pics of C8A2s in Afghanistan on Combat Camera and they have the EoTech sights... Makes me wonder if I should go that route instead...
Now the big question - I know EoTech sights are only sold to military and law enforcement, and that probably makes them 'prohibited' for civilian use. What are the chances of ordering a replica EoTech sight from out of Canada and not having it seized by customs? Or does anyone know where a replica EoTech is available in Canada?

I'm not sure where I read that they were for law enforcement / military-only use. And usually when things are listed for LE / Military only, they're usually restricted... My bad then. Learning new stuff every day.
So that being said, it's not likely that a replica one of these (I'm not hardcore enough to pop $500 for a sight) would be seized by customs coming across the border, is it?

I've had a couple EoTech's through my possession in the past year or two, a couple 552's and a 551 IIRC...usually I'm just the middle man because people are edgy about Customs seizing their babies.
Good stuff IMO, not cheap at all though, usually ticking upwards of $400 on eBay now.
