Tanka M870 Shells

Whats up everyone.

I just got myself a Tanaka M870 shotgun, but am having some problems with the shells.

I load each shell up with propane first, then I put three .20 bbs into each shell.

When I load the shells into the gun, they won't fire the bbs from the shell when I pull the trigger on the shotgun. Nothing happens.

What is wrong? Am I doing something wrong?

Please, if you can, could you help me figure this out?

– Thanks

I noticed trixta said something about it in this forum:

http://airsoftcanada.com/showthread....=tanaka+shells

" The shell issue can be fixed, just take them apart and put heavy weight silicone oil inside - I did that and my shells never had a problem since."

but he is banned from ASC right now for some reason, so i cant message him

Whats up? I released some propane from each shell, and it worked. But where do I put the oil in the shell and how do I know how much propane to put in each shell before I put to much that it wont function?

lube-wise, i would try and drip/spray some between the grey cylinder on the back of the shell (that is depressed by the firing pin, its where the fill valve is) and just work the lube in. unpressured, thevalve should depress withe about the same force as the valve of a gbb mag, may be slightly stiffer but not my much. As a diagnostic method, and if you have any, try running some of the shells with duster just to see if it is a pressure problem.

As for how much gas to fill, its the standard japanese-style of fill till it squirts out method. i find it take about 1.5-2 seconds to fill, a surprising amount for such a small reservoir. this of course fills it full. if you want to try less, try anywhere between a 0.5-1 second spray, although i'm not sure if that will lead to less pressure (as oppose to less economy/rounds able to be fired).

I find if i do the ol' gbb mag fill-till-it-spills method is to much for the tanaka shell. I will do some tests and see what works best over time. I guess this is just a learning experience, seeing what works and what doesn't.

Thanks for the info Rob, much appreciated
