Buffer tube depth
So, I'm planning on running a trigger master and lipo on my MRE build. I was planning on using this battery in the stock JG buffer tube that I have:
http://ebaybanned.com/product_info.php?products_id=1769 The problem is that this battery is 12cm long and the buffer tube is only 10cm deep. Now the JG buffer tube is one piece casted metal. The "Nut" (I don't know what else to call it) that mates to the receiver where the buffer tube would screw into on the RS is actually one piece and molded to the buffer tube. Because of this the buffer tube attaches with a screw through a metal washer on the inside. This washer is what causes the tube to only be 10cm deep. So basically what I want to know is, are most airsoft buffer tubes like this or do some of them actually come in two pieces where the tube screws into the "Nut" on the back of the receiver. And also if you know the depths of any specific brand of buffer tube could you post them (a long shot I know). Thanks in advance. |

On my TM one there's the same nut except it's not molded into the buffer tube and it's probably the same depth. I wouldn't expect the TM one or any other to be any longer on the inside. This is why people who have put LiPos into their buffer tubes have always just used them without fully collapsing the stock.

AFAIK the JG buffer tube is a clone of the TM one, and many other brands use this design. Asides from PTWs, I think only STAR's ARs have realistic buffer tubes which screw into the receiver and use a separate castle nut (that's what the nut is called, btw. You were close :P )

Well looking a little closer on wgc shop it looks like I can answer my own question. All the buffer tubes look to be attached the same way. Even the STAR brand ones. And considering I'm trying to put a trigger master in there too, I'm pretty much ruling out the buffer tube idea. I think I'm just going to use this with a trigger master and the batteries I have now:
