I have no idea whether or not the gun itself is any good but from what I've read, it'd take another couple hundred (I've read as high as a grand) to get it upgraded enough to be effective.

If this is you're first gun, drop it. Get an AEG first or you WILL be mad at you're self.

he actually said something kinda sensible...

why its a christmas miracle! lol

to the OP cheap and airsoft are like dogshit and root beer they dont mix

i would wait till you can afford the sport and then you can jump in with both feet and with a decent set of gear

just my opinion tho

oh ya and get age verified

He's right. Bolt action airsoft guns look very much fun and they are, but for most people only for a very short while (ie, less than a day of gaming). They are not something you should buy until you've tried it out at a game, used it for the whole day, and then decided it was good.

And as someone else said, they do not perform well out of the box. It would take a lotttt (read, more than $600) to get it to have the parts necessary to be able to outrange or be more accurate than an upgraded AEG, but then it takes a hell of a lot more tuning and fine care and love to make it actually perform. Not a wise decision as a first gun. Get an AEG, then come back to this after you've gamed for a while.

if you tried it.. can't you judge from that if it feels crap or not?

All the clones of the VSR-10 are garbage.

The only good one is the original TM VSR-10.

In most cases, not all.

Low quality bulk materials bought from the lowest bidder.
Poor quality control.

The TM VSR-10 is very precisely made, with good parts, giving good performance.
The clone ones are made to work the same way, but much less care is put into the entire process. They will work, and they will probably last just as long without breaking, but they will cost more than the cost of a real VSR in upgrade parts to get it to perform like a stock TM. For only a bit more $$, you can upgrade a stock VSR from Marui to be a more than capable sniper platform, or stock it'll be competitive.
