DIY grenade?

I don't know if it's in this thread but i played Rawdon game and many people had some DIY grenades (wrapped with tape and everything). Anyone has a guide to make them? Im pretty sure some are ok to game and some are not. Thanks.

There are several threads on this on this site. One specifically done by Mason that has pics with a step by steb.

Yeah that was the thread.

As I recall the Official decision was that for legal reason it probably wasn't a good idea to have information on modifying explosives on this site.

@OP, search online there's a lot of info on the topic (Youtube)

I don't know about anyone else...but I don't want to see do-it-yourself explosives on the field

Here is how I do my grenades :

(disclaimer : they are small grenades that don't blow up your opponent's eardrums, piss them off and/or send shockwave thru the field. They are ideal for playing inside and are somewhat OK for outside. I don't like overpowered grenades.)

1. Take a ketchup paper cup (like at McDonald but slightly bigger, about 4cm wide at the largest opening)

2. Pierce a hole at the bottom.

3. Put a firecracker in the paper cup and insert fuse thru the hole (I use "Little Dynamites" firecrackers, modified mini-airbombs are also good. Avoid "Pyro Boy" because they have a lot of duds).

4. Fill paper cup with dried peas (or used BBs)

5. Put a strip of large masking tape over opening. Tighten but not too much (peas will fly out otherwise)

6. Put another strip of masking tape over opening, this time make it as tight as possible.

Warning : do not surround the whole paper cup with masking tape as I doubt the firecracker will be powerful enough to blow it up properly if it's too strong.

7. Light fuse, throw while yelling grenade!

You get a spread that varies from 4 to 12 feet in radius (depends alot on the position the grenade falls : upside down, sideways, etc...).

Other types of grenades can (and will) be more efficient but this one costs 30-35 cents per grenade. That's hard to beat. I always have 40-50 for my indoor games and have a blast (literally).

They are do it yourself grenades made with commonly available things that go bang (like firecrackers), so it's not like anyone is making explosives from scratch. So don't worry about that aspect of it. And if you are worried about getting hit by a low velocity dry pea or two because you weren't paying attention when it went off near your ass, I don't think you'd like airsoft much with it's higher velocity projectiles.

Who was that guy who had permanent hearing damage due to a home-made grenade being fired off in the respawn?

Maybe it was not permanent, but had some sort of hearing loss.

There was video of it somewhere.

Sure if used carefull they can be useful, but there is some risk to it.

Who was that guy that lost his eyesight because somebody shot off in the respawn?

Point is accidents happen in this sport. Practice and enforce safety.

Yeah very true, I should have been more specific.

If you're going to make a grenade, just becareful, safe and considerate.

There are indoor grenades, and outdoor grenades. I refuse to use either in the other venue, especially the outdoor grenades indoors, they are totally not worth the risk in my eyes. And people should learn how to deal with loud noises in confined areas, open your mouth wide to open your ear canals up to equalize the pressure. The outdoor grenades give a loud POOF about a second before the real bang, so situational awareness is paramount. And setting any grenade off in the respawn area is as dumb as setting one off in the staging area. The person should have been kicked out.
